2010 Bats

What's on your mind?

by Skarp » Tue Sep 29, 2009 1:24 pm

So far I'm not seeing the same pop out of the CF4 as I saw out of the RT, TZ, and Phenix. Most of the girls on dd's team are swinging the CF4, and none of them are having great results with it, IMO. I don't know if it's just a matter of waiting for it to open up, or what.

DD really likes the CF4, she says the balance is better than her CF3.

Part of it is mental  but she couldn't seem to get one out of the infield during the first 2 games on Saturday with the CF3 so she switched to the CF4 for the 3rd game and drove a standing double to right center on her first at bat.

She tells me that the CF3 has been banished to her bag for BP.

She plays again this weekend, we'll see how it goes!

The new bat always wins :D

I seen the cf4 and the combat LF this past weekend unfortunately the opposing players did not fare well during their at bats.

Thanks for update

my DD has used the CF4, the Phenix and the 2010 rocketech. i've also seen a number of girls use the cf4 recently in tournament play. imo, i think the cf4 has good pop and hits almost as good as the rocketech.

every girl i've seen hit with the cf4 has absolutely mashed with it. the bat swings light because it is light. my DD's 32/22 acutually weighs only 21.3 oz. i think the engineers may have made the bat lighter for faster bat speed in order to compensate for the lower exit speed rating.

the cf4 vs. phenix definitely feel like completely different bats. handle is thicker on the phenix and it's not as balanced as the cf4.

in terms of pop, it's not really close. the phenix easily outhits the cf4. but that's not to say the cf4 lacks pop. i'm just saying the phenix is the best fastpitch bat my dd has used.

Anyone got any feedback on the new Louisville Slugger H2 Hybrid fastpitch bat? Looking for a new bat for my DD she does not like the way the CF3 feels has been swinging the Silver Synergy for the last few years 32/22 still has pop but may be losing some of it. Any suggestions.

bandit -- that's an easy one. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Get another Silver Synergy, either NIW (there are some that still show up on ebay) or used for one season. Why take a chance on a new bat when it is EASY to get a 2006 or 2007 composite bat in good shape?

PS... I don't know if composites lose pop as much as they break eventually... but somebody from the cryo/shaving slow pitch world I'm sure can chime in to correct me on that.

The H2 while a good bat is nowhere in the same league as the silver synergy, I agree find another synergy!
As far as bats losing pop, I have always heard they get hottest right before they break. We replaced 2 older composites for brand new ones (same model) which seem to produce more pop. Plus I think the girls like the shinier new bats compared to the older beat up ones. Could just be a mental thing

I have to agree with you Skarp. I have been watching that bat for a while now. Not even close to the pop of the old CF3. I am also disappointed with the new Stealth Clarity line. They go from making one of the best bats in the sport (ie..the purple and white) to the overpriced turds of the bat market (ie..Clarity). It kinda makes me wonder, why are the bats going backwards in performance? Do you think they are trying to comply with possible ASA bat changes ahead of schedule? I am thinking these bat companies may have gotten hold of some information we don't know yet.
To each their own.

I have been trying to find an article I read about the new bat specs but I can't find it. I do think that the CF3 and CF4 have the same standards but I could be wrong. The original DeMarini Phenix is rated at 98 mph right off the shelf. Once that bat is broken in it will exceed 100 mph.

Their was a reason this year in the College World Series why you didn't see very many of the new Easton Clarity Bats. That bat is 92 mph off the shelf, (like all the new composite bats) but the more you hit it the hotter is gets. For some brilliant reason Easton designed that bat so when the bat reached 98 mph their would be a black streak that appears on the barrel letting every under the sun know that the bat it now to good to use for ASA standards.

The new DeMarini bats come off he shelf at 92 mph also but in do time that bat will exceed the 98 mph. Unlike the Easton bats unless the bat is tested no one will know you are swinging a 100+ mph bat.

Speaking of the College World Series. It is interesting that these lists, are not mentioning one of the most popular and hottest bats out there....the Mizuno FRENZY 2 - used by the University of Washington to win the Women's College World Series and Yavapai College to win the NJCAA National titles. Not to mention the Gold Medal winners at last years Olympics, all used this bat.

There are many sponsored Mizuno travel ball teams, including my organization, that use this bat and the girls really like it a lot.

The bat has a propietary Black Onyx carbon for performance and durability. (same material Boeing uses to make airplanes). Comes in -8 and -10; 30" thru 34" lengths.

Interesting to note that Janae Leles used the mystery bat at U of A all season and during the summer switched to the Frenzy 2. Went 7 for 9 at one stretch with 2 bombs.

MRSP - $250.00

I wouldn't say Mizuno is that popular, probably dead last among the ranks... good bat but they have a long history of durability problems. I would be interested to see how many bats did the University of Washington go through in a season.
