Anderson Bat Q & A

What's on your mind?

by fasterpitch92701 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:18 pm

Tumblebug,

Any comments on the World Series announcer discussions about a potential ban on composite bats? Is "the answer" an Anderson-like (or Anderson) bat with, perhaps, a welded end cap to prevent internal shaving? Or ????

If there really is a severe degree of concern regarding composite bats then the only alternative is aluminum/alloy. I think wood might be out of the question.

Commentary? You must have some.... ahhhhh..... interest... in the subject.

First of all, I think the NCAA softball announcers are uninformed and fairly lame for spreading rumor and speculation. The speculation is actually in the favor but lame none the less.

NCAA baseball actually banned composite bats. The new composite products will have to comply with an ABI protocol similar to the test that is already in place for ASA and NCAA softball. When I talked with NCAA softball a while back they said that they were not going to change their position and were probably going to depend on a on-field compression test which has since lost some credibility as a solution. I haven't checked back so I can only guess that the position of NCAA baseball and NFHS baseball will have some influence. I think there is a liability issue to deal with if they don't follow suit in some way but I am no lawyer. We shall see.

Blades, I coach at Sheldon High in Eugene (we play vs Grants Pass, N Medford, Roseburg, no picnic at all, I will tell you that much). I'm coaching Eugene Lightning 14U this summer. We will be up in the PDX area a few times this summer. I will search you out when we are up there. Thanks.

My younger daughter swings an '08 Rocketech and is looking for a longer bat. Saw the new/current version and I like the brighter look. I also like the simple engineering fix of the paint chipping between barrel and handle by having the 1/8" paint gap between the two exposing some shiny aluminum. Sometimes the fix is simple and elegant !!!

DD finally roadtested her Nano 31/21...she is pretty happy with her BP results (2 BP 350-400hits another 350hits on Tee). Here is what the results are for a girl 5FT tall. I would pitch with screen while sitting on a bucket(18-20ft) she would easilly hit the ball aprrox 140-150 ft center field. When she get's ahead of the ball or hooks it, the distance is much further out don't know how much more but I would guess another 10-20feet. The ball jumps out of the barrel pretty fast compared to the clarity and speed bats. I would also pitch to her standing up and results are just as consistant when she gets squared with the ball. The bat weight and feel is lighter than a stealth clarity and stealth speed, this is her feedback. I will later follow up once she gets to use this bat in a real game situation. Bye for now and I hope this info will help out. Thanks to the Bucket and Anderson Bat Company for the thread. Makes things a lot easier when folks like you guys comes out and lay it out there for normal JOE'S!

DD is now looking for a new bat as her old, old F2's end cap popped off this weekend. During the tourny she borrowed team mates Stealth Speed (white/puprle) and proceeded to murder the ball so now really wants that bat. My concern is the connection piece. Horrible stories of breakage and poor customer service. Tried to show her the Anderson Nano but doesn't want to hear it because she doesn't like the RT. Trying to talk sense to a 17 yr old is a losing battle! How do the two really compare? Is there a review site I can go to? I am reading a lot from the younger age groups, what do the high school girls think of the NFP?
Thanks

BTW Tumble, got any blems on discount?
