Any comments on the World Series announcer discussions about a potential ban on composite bats? Is "the answer" an Anderson-like (or Anderson) bat with, perhaps, a welded end cap to prevent internal shaving? Or ????
If there really is a severe degree of concern regarding composite bats then the only alternative is aluminum/alloy. I think wood might be out of the question.
Commentary? You must have some.... ahhhhh..... interest... in the subject.
First of all, I think the NCAA softball announcers are uninformed and fairly lame for spreading rumor and speculation. The speculation is actually in the favor but lame none the less.
NCAA baseball actually banned composite bats. The new composite products will have to comply with an ABI protocol similar to the test that is already in place for ASA and NCAA softball. When I talked with NCAA softball a while back they said that they were not going to change their position and were probably going to depend on a on-field compression test which has since lost some credibility as a solution. I haven't checked back so I can only guess that the position of NCAA baseball and NFHS baseball will have some influence. I think there is a liability issue to deal with if they don't follow suit in some way but I am no lawyer. We shall see.
