News***ASA is creating a 16U GOLD DIVISION.

by ru4u » Thu Aug 20, 2009 9:02 pm

ASA is going to make huge changes. 16u is going Gold. There will be only 64 spots for 16 Gold Nationals, just like 18 Gold. SIXTEEN GOLD will become a hot ticket for college recruiting and 18 gold will be for competion. Imagine that! What are the Gold coaches going to do? Maybe, they will be obselete.

ASA has to because they stand to lose the 18 Gold next year. 18 Gold is splitting. Many of the Gold teams are having a Gold Nationals in California that is not associated with ASA. They have to do something to correct the imbalance caused by babies playing 18Gold.

You have babies playing 18G in Texas? What age do embryos play?
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

I'm sure ASA will just walk away from that bloated payday that is 16u Nationals. From 164 teams down to 64. That's a lot of money left on the table.

Easy fix, 10 grand entry fee, Teams supply the game balls & pay the blues, And it will take two weeks to complete the tourney.

No way they leave it on the table. In their infinite cleverness they probably go with 16G AND 16A. Why? Because it's perfectly logical to bear the logistical expense of hosting two tournaments instead of one. And they may even get double the "host" fees.

If this is even true, they could be trying to secure a foothold in 16's before Premier walks away with that division the way they did 18G. LOL :)

Also possible that so many coaches voiced complaints about the 164 team format they actually listened and are trying to be more responsive.

Or, well, it could be just about anything - including a hoax! Or as noted, a super top secret tournament that nobody knows about. They could hold it at Area 51! Try to convert all the UFO conspirators into fastpitch fans. Imagine that rumor mill! It would the TX boards to shame! :)

what does "ru4u" stand for?
I know, "I've been hitting the crackpipe again!"
It's astounding, time is fleeting.
Madness takes its toll.
