(we worked hard to find that for her) She's had to earn her way on the field most definitely. Got absolutely NO problem with that. With that being said, we are just now starting discuss with her that things get a little more serious this yr and she's got to devote a little more time to training to get what she wants. We have not really pushed her to (nor have we had to) do anything with softball because we wanted her to just LOVE playing. Don't want her to burn out in HS because she missed out on everything else being pushed too hard, too soon. That is all I am saying.
I am really amazed at the # of new 12U teams this fall in Houston. My real problem with that many is that they all say their goal is "ASA nationals" No way that many teams can fill a roster that is capable of that goal. I see 3-5 teams capable of that from Houston.
Yes, way to many teams ! This is the year we will see some decide that softball is not what they thought. Or other interest start becoming a factor...... boys other sports in school or the competition gets a little bit stiffer and they see they have to start really working harder to compete at a high level. It is a realty for everyone and no one is exempted from it. They still have to enjoy the game there coaches and players on there team and start seeing there hard work paying off on the field. Different kids have to take different paths to succeed. All we can do is give them opportunity's..... they have to take the ball and run with it and put the work in. We will see who is still standing in the spring and where everyone settles. If your not putting things together by now, let's just say the sand is running out of the hour glass. They grow up fast !
