I swear This Happened!

I don't have any audio of video footage of what I saw today, but it still is hilarious.....and true. A line drive down third base line, hits the line in a cloud of chalk.....Blue behind the plate calls "foul". 3rd base coach tells blue, "the ball hit the line! Didn't you see the chalk come up?"

This is when it gets funny...Umpire says, "if it hits the chalk, then it's a foul ball!!"

No Kidding!!! This is an 18U friendly. After it is explained to the blue, he reverses his call!
After the game, our coach is talking to the blue and the blue told him he got the call mixed up with football rules...........
In the meantime, the blue working the bases keeps pulling out his cell phone and texting! After this was noticed, a parent yelled out to the blue to "call someone who can explain this game to the both of you!"

Ladyhawk friendly in La Verne. The blue (Mr. Texter) was a young guy with long sideburns. When he worked behind the plate he would bail out on any ball thrown low or inside. It was hilarious. He was set up directly behind the catcher so that he could not see a thing.

Surf City Showcase 2 weeks ago at Peralta Park....Blue is talking on the phone when the 1st inning starts. He is chatting and chatting. Blue behind the dish asks him if the batter went, he looks up from his conversation and say, uh, yea, she went. 3 innings later, same blue leaves the field to go to the bathroom. Gotta love it.

We had the same thing happen in tourney in New Braunsfels Tx.Ump was between 1st and 2nd actually talking on the phone.We had to stop the game to make him get off!!!!

ASA - We had a blue tell the scorekeeper that the reason he called the girl out was because the bat was in fair territory (after a bunt) - when the ball rolled into the bat in fair territory, she was then immediately out. Runner had to go back to 1st as well.

Surf City Kick-off...blue behind plate signals fair ball when 3B in front of the bag clearly reached into foul territory to snag a ground ball. 3rd base coach questioned and plate blue told him "her body was in fair territory when she reached into foul territory for the ball." Blue then explained that yes, the ball was in foul territory but she kept herself in fair territory - thus, fair ball. 3rd base coach asked him to repeat that to the blue in the field and ask for help. After a LONG conference, ruling was foul ball!! Thank God they figured it out.
