Coaches must throughly explain all the ground rules to the parents and to the players on the team and to those trying out for the team. These should be in writing as a pass out to the parents and players. A copy of this is signed by the parent(s) and player and the coach files it with the other team paper work. This will deter any problems on the understanding of the rules and guidelines for the team.

I have done this and I have seen other coaches do it and it is very helpful.

In these times, I don't believe there is such a thing as a true commitment from a player to a team or a team to a player. If a player's "parent(s)" (because it usually isn't the player's choice) becomes unhappy they take their child somewhere else to play. Like wise if a player or parent(s) become disruptive to the functioning of the team the coach will ask them to leave.

I do believe in the (2) times a year tryouts. (1) at the start of spring and (1) at the start of fall. This allows parents and players to leave or come on a team without a big problem. This allows coaches to choose players to fit their program and to allow players to seek other avenues if they are not satisfied with the current teams program.

This should be about the players and what is best for them. Never should it be what is best for the parent(s).

AMEN, HALLELUJAH, PRAISE THE LORD! I wish every parent had the same mentality. My daughter hasn't been in the game long. This is our 3rd season. Since she started league I explained 2 her that in any sport, you have 2 work hard in practice and prove to your coach that you want 2 play. And if you want to play a certain position you have 2 fight for it. Nobody is gonna give you anything. Work hard in practice and fight for your position in a game. She understands if she has an off game that she might ride the bench. And she is ok with that because she doesn't want 2 hurt her team. My position as a parent is 2 cheer the team on. Not in the coachs ear while he is in the middle of a game. My daughter love this game and my wife and I back her up 100%. The day she doesnt want 2 play then she is out. We will not force her 2 play. It all boils down to the parent. And as far as tryouts. Once we became select, our team had fall tryout and spring tryouts. What I don't like is when a parent pulls there kid out because they didn't get their way in the middle of the season and leaves the whole team hanging. That's just wrong. My whole point is communication is very important.

I herd she is fine just working on picking up 3 - 4 mph for state ! The Sting is just fine tuning a few things before state. Sure would like a friendly or two before state with the GREAT TPS !

Get Charlie to load up the team in that new truck and head to Deer Park any Wednesday evening and they can play all night, or better yet talk TPS into coming to BBUSA :!:

How are the 10U teams that are trying to qualify for ASA Nationals playing in USFA State when Houston ASA Metro's are the same weekend as USFA State. I could be wrong about this but I think I'm right. I know for a fact 12U Metro's are the same weekend as 10U USFA State.
