Ridiculous tryouts

What's on your mind?

We have tryouts middle of August to set the roster then don't do anything until middle September. Sure we could make a statement and not have tryouts until later but it would be foolish to think that parents are going to sit and let all the tryouts happen, skip them all, and put their eggs in our basket hoping we took their daughter.
I think it's stranger that teams are playing friendlies this weekend.

Exactly. All this hand-wringing about early try-outs misses the point a bit. If the issue is over-use, what really matters is when you start workouts, not when you set your roster.

Just curious, but the fact that college coaches are verbaling 12U and 1st year 14U girls now are not the cause? I know it grabbed my attention! My DD is entering her 2nd year DD as a 14U pitcher........as I understand it, this is the age that they get the looks now! So who is really at fault?

OK tjbd relax, big / fat whatever, but this tidbit is for you. 2 years ago muzuno prior to morphing into batbusters (cant remember the coach ) kidked some butt @ PGF & then had tryouts where over 100 girls showed up. So the guy gathers all the girls around starts pointing at them 1 at a time, you over here, you over there ending up with 2 groups. the first group had everybody 5'5' ish & under, the 2nd group everybody else. Once that was done he turned to the first group & said "Thank you for coming, you're all released" Guess he only wanted big girls

and yes....Spazzdad is correct again

Ex1 I bet those girls could all hit too right? Next your gonna say, Oregon's 1-2-3 hitters were lefty slappers! It's not a size or lefty/fifty issue, it is a talent issue. You always pull the smallest point and use it as your center piece. Broaden your arguments man... The exception IS NOT the rule!

That's a slippery slope. I'll settle for Uno the person not having his team do early tryouts and not liking it and telling us he doesn't like it and Uno the businessman providing an unbiased, open and most importantly (within reason) uncensored forum for all of us.

What you're asking him to do would change the Bucket in ways I don't think we would really want it changed.

In my opinion...

Every business decision comes at a price. The trick is to evaluating all the cost factors which at times includes public image. Once you gathered and analyzed all pertinent data you make a choice. At times the actual cost is not truly known for some time, particularly if it involves a PR strategy.

In this case:

1. Shut down the tryout postings until a future date and demonstrate that HB walks the talk and possible upset a few paying customers. Great PR but is the price to high? In my opinion if it eliminates one injury the price is worth it. But that is just me

2. Do noting, keep the status quo and not lose a single paying customer. This would also confirm that HB is more interested in their bottom line than the well being of a teenage girl and his post was disingenuous. Not good PR, but no immediate effect on revenue.

Isn’t uno with MG. You might want to check this.

I have an idea...since you're endorsing censorship on HB why don't Uno and Spaz start with removing your holier-than-thou unrealistic BS and make you just go away? Good for them and lucky for you that they won't because they believe in free speech and maintaining an unbiased, uncensored open forum.

I have another idea...why don't you start your own site? We'll meet you over there.

Honest...

It’s a bitch when facts get in the way of your perceived reality. Did you bother checking the link or did I just push the right button that set off your tantrum.

Yes, I looked at the link. Minors Gold is waiting 3 full weeks after PGF to have their tryouts and to my knowledge they will not begin practice until early/mid September.

Your point? (Besides wanting so desperately to get back at Uno and Spaz because of the squabbles you've had with them here in the past)

REAL simple fix...You dont like Heybucket...dont navigate to IT...

Being as its Uno's site...and his admin folks...

Its not a part of the democratic process (not as in politicians)...
Votes don't really count...(Just like our current political process)
Because if it was ran on everyones whim of opinions...same with the sanctioning bodies...dont like it...dont freaking play in it...Can you have suggestions ABSOLUTELY...no where is it written anyone has to go by them...If some of the flaming trolls ran it...its new name should be www.softballsitethatsux.com

You dont like it...Dont come here...its that easy...start your own...name I quoted above is available for a website btw...You'll need it...

Hare, where did your GIF go? I was going to comment on your choice for your first-ever GIF posting  You are learning my friend.

Hey vida, I would jump on PR's domain idea, it's still available. The other disgruntled HB trolls may steal it from you. http://www.softballsitethatsux.com
