We have tryouts middle of August to set the roster then don't do anything until middle September. Sure we could make a statement and not have tryouts until later but it would be foolish to think that parents are going to sit and let all the tryouts happen, skip them all, and put their eggs in our basket hoping we took their daughter.
I think it's stranger that teams are playing friendlies this weekend.
Exactly. All this hand-wringing about early try-outs misses the point a bit. If the issue is over-use, what really matters is when you start workouts, not when you set your roster.
