With bracketologist's reaction to Thunder demoralizing some lower level competition, hopefully the Hey Bucket Poll doesn't turn into the BCS, where teams are going to steamroll weaker teams just to move up in the polls.

Back in the days when I played fastpitch if you were up 8 maybe even five runs and put down a bunt or a hit and run or took extra bases you can bet on the next batter to taking one in the ribs.
They would hit people with bases loaded to make a point. Dudes throwing over 80 from 46' could not of felt good.

Yeah well its always the teams that have coaches who never actually played the game that run up the score. If you havent been on the other side of an a$$ whoopin you dont know what its like. If you have never been knocked on your rear end cuz a pitch had "ear hole" written all over it, you dont know that you should have some class and respect the opposition. So for you guys that dont get it: If you are up 17 to 1, dont worry about the 18th run. Do your team a favor and have your player step off the bag instead of scoring the 18th run on a passed ball.
Im just sayin.

Ace that is also a very good point "If you havent been on the other side of an a$$ whoopin you dont know what its like". You don't even need to make it as obvious as stepping off the bag. Have your runners take their lead way early. I saw a 14U coach 2 weeks ago playing a rec team with the nicest parents I have ever met. He was stealing and taking extra bases all the way to the end. He was up by 10 runs and had a play where the catcher acted like she through the ball away. The first baseman and the right fielder took off running like the ball got by the first baseman. The girl at third went home and was tagged out. Can you say no class?

There are two 95s that have to move up. The rest of the team is 96's and two 97's. We made several attempts to get out of innings by stepping off the bag and blues weren't calling it, even after we told them that's what was going to happen. Also, a coach got very upset with our coaches when we attempted stepping off of the bag. We have been on that side of a whoopin' a few good times. It is not Thunder's style to do that, but it's just the way it happened at this particular tournament.

My reaction was to Thunder winning the tourney. I don't pay attention to the high scores as this is happening more and more in softball each year. So I disregarded the other scores early and only paid attention to the two games Thunder played against top 25 caliber teams.

Unfortunately running up the score is now very popular in softball …. and I see it, each and every week!
