2011 RONALD MCDONALD SHOWCASE

by ridinsuicide » Mon Oct 24, 2011 9:39 am

We had a really good time at the tournament! There were some very competitive teams in the 12u division!! We beat Austin Starz 8-1 in bracket on Saturday and they brought in a kid to pitch on Sunday that was throwing mid 40's with a NASTY change-up at about 35 mph for a strike everytime!!!! I believe that was the ONLY pitch she threw against us!!! It did the trick against us....we couldnt adjust!!!!! Anyhow, another great weekend of softball......you win some, you lose some....

Let's Play Two wrote:Clearly our 2nd year 14U teams in Elite, BB Spuria, Glory Kyser and Glory Allen which both have 97's are not ready for these big time tournaments. If Elite and BB are the only 14U NTX second year teams in the area that are willing to compete nationally we are in trouble. What has happened to the Zoom's and TNT gold's of the world? NTX needs to step It up in softball efforts if we are to compete here? What happened to the pure '98 Firecrackers? How did they fare out there? Have not heard from there side past Saturday as they were undefeated as well BB. Where did each team place? How did Glory Kyser's bunch fare as well?

Southlake as long they have the good old boys there and in other complexes as well. It's money first and softball second. The Ronald McDonald is proof of that. TD's keep holding back the progress of softball here in NTX. Something needs to change or simply let's just continue to be happy with mediocre softball.

Good point on the 14s, but what does the TD have to do with it??? If TD don't make a few dollars for their associations, you'll soon be playing street ball.

Texas Elite Strawn went four and three with one of the losses being a pool game against Austin Storm who was also our first bracket game opponent. We didn't want to show them everything we had in the pool play which is one of the reason we beat them in the bracket game.

I am not sure why people on this board believe we are a second year 14U team; this is our first year and we have only had a full team less than six months. We have four 97's, one 98, and the remainder of our girls are 96's. This is also only one of our 97 pitchers second year to play select ball. The RM was our first national showcase and we were very proud of how the girls played.

I do agree that the north texas teams are much weaker than the Houston area teams. The TD's in the area could help by not hosting all open tournaments. Host some true A tournaments including some ASA tournaments. VTD is very popular in north Texas, not so much in other parts of the country. Look up Impact Gold and Sudden Impact and see how many VTD sanctioned tournaments they have participated in.

Yeah I thought the same thing on a lot of those 96 pitchers. Both 98 pitchers from impact gold were throwing 60 and higher on the radar gun.

Well I guess all those college coaches radar guns were wrong. Next time I'll take a picture for ya. I didn't think there would be that many big school there. I seen a lot of the big 12 teams and Houston, North Texas and few others.
