Div 5 La Canada pulls off big upset

La Canada a small D -5 school keeps getting better and better. Three years ago they brought in some new coaches to help turn the program around. They have coaches with great teaching skills and a coach who pitched in college. Two of the other coaches played men's fast pitch for many years.
They work the players very hard and they make it fun for the girls. I talked to one of the coaches a few weeks ago and he was saying how important positive coaching is. He said people don't realize how hard it is to hit a round ball moving fast with a break to it with a round bat. A lot of coaches scream and yell at the players when they don't hit and most of those coaches couldn't hit water if they fell off a cruise ship.

La Canada beat Thousand Oaks this weekend in 9 innings on Jessica Ogdens hit, then had to play Hart in the finals.
La Canada beat Hart in the finals 6-4. Hart hit three home runs in the game one by Elizabeth Henry.
Shirley Drange for La Canada hit a homer and picked up 2 RBI's and a sac fly by Aubri Thompson who had 3 RBI's and Kelsey Drange 1 RBI
LC had 10 hits Hart had 9

Was a great game. O'Leary did a great job vs a tough Hart lineup. Overall a very solid team and very well coached. They'll be tough to beat in CIF.

It was a very exciting game all the way to the end. BTW Shirley Drange and Aubri Thompson are NOT travel ball players but the way they swing their DeMarini -10 Phenix with a white Tatergrip was very impressive.
Also you should of seen Shirley after going threw the outfield fence to try and catch Henrys homerun ball she flipped her self back over the fence by doing a cartwheel!
THe LCHS girls were very loose and very relaxed, even after going down two runs. It really was fun to watch them play against such high quality teams in the TO tournament.
