Bake, ;) I only respond with the facts not suppositions so I am safe using my name. If any of you ever need clarification on something in ASA, please feel free to ask me.

Bake,
It looks like you are reading some of these statements with a little attitude. I don't think most of these guys were trying to give you any. These guys have been around here for years and know how it works! That's all! They were trying to make sure you realized what was going on! We have all(most anyway) coached or still do! We understand what your doing! It looks like your off to a good start! You'll firgure out in time who(most) and who not(a few) to listen to and trust!! Good Luck

Hey Gunshy,
I agree, Wheres Fud?? Might go missing like Sidd has!!

To steal a line from Backstop, use "coach" loosely, very loosely, in my case.
Every man lives by a code:
1.Always look cool
2.Never get lost
3.If you get lost, look cool

this is all getting interesting so i thought i would chime in- my opinion is that at ANY age level you have to figure out if you have a team that is going to stick together and take the next step. if not, you should just play for the moment and let those who want to better themselves find a team that is more suited for them. but, if you are a coach and find yourself in this situation year after year you might want to look in the mirror and tell yourself to stick with town ball and leave travel for the "elite" teams. at the 10u level it is more important to be a GOOD coach than worry about trying to win every tourney out there. it is the coaches job in my opinion to have all the girls on a team wanting to come back year after year to play the game they love. i've seen too many coaches drive girls away from the game because all they care about is 2 or 3 girls on the team and WIN WIN WIN............my suggestion to any parents/players out there that have problems with their current team..........unless your child is coming up to you and has issues with the team, just bite your tongue and don't create added stress to coaches who already deal with a lot of BS throughout the year. coaches- just be 100% honest with parents and players and you'll be surprised what that might get you.........the worst thing you can do is play "politician!".........in my 5 years of coaching i've had 2 girls not come back and i will always wonder if it was something that i did wrong.......

If 10u "A" Nationals are in Johnson City, where are 2011 10u Golds?

Wow! I can't believe a 10u thread is getting this much love. I'm glad me and my kids didn't take it this serious when they we're that age. :)
Buy em some Barbie dolls and let em grow up normal.

First and foremost, working.

Secondly, I'm watching the 10U Bake's in TN. Already. Just watch and learn.
