If you register a team as "A" and a child feels she is in over her head, she is NO LONGER eligible to go play in rec or all stars because she will be in the database as an A player
Are you serious with this statement? People keep track of this? I'm flabbergasted by this whole thread.

Catfan,
The only data base would be the sanctioning body the "A" is with! If you sign up ASA and your rec team is LL it's a none issue!! Dlauk, i'm with ya on this thread! The way it sounds, we will have to look out for some of these teams at exposure tournaments this summer!!

I dont see the problem with A teams playing B, at least in Indiana. We dont have that many A teams around. If they only played A tournaments they would not be playing tournaments at all in 10u. They are listed as B so they can play games. Plus it gives the true B/C teams some really good competition to guage themselves against. If you dont want to play against those teams, sign up late for your tourneys and pick where you want to go that particular weekend. Most organizations show you who is signed up for tourneys and who is not and most of the A teams are already listed.

I know some of you 14-18u'rs dont see 10u as being relevant, but Im certain you did when your dd was 10. Try to not forget that. We just love the game and love watching our young girls play it to the best of their ability.

Good luck to everyone this year!!!

Eclipse is in that 3rd tier of 10s so far from what i've seen/heard. Avg B/C can't compete w/ top teams right now. Would say the same about C IN Cats. It's about learning and having fun at this age anyway. Great to win, but better to become better players!

10U is very relevant!! What us "14-18u'rs" are having a issue with is the A, B and uh "C" stuff being discussed! When we were 10's, we didn't have near the numbers you have now! A or B, no such thing as "C"! We played travel! The same teams beat each other up every weekend, about 6 teams!(We still do to a point) If we didn't want to see them, we went out of state to play, "A"! If you think your team is good, ask some questions and find out where to go! Chi-town, Oh, Penn, have always had very good younger teams! If your feeling really good about yourself, head south or west! Yes, we don't get to play outside like they do. But we have had teams every year compete and do very well with those teams!! Why, hard work and playing the best we can!! So, step up and keep it going! Good luck!

Who are the Top Organizations in Indiana?

Xtreme
Gators
Edge
Shockwaves
Dreams
Crown Point

These are in no particular order any of these organizations play games that are great to watch. I am sure their are many more.

To the question on big tough teams at 10U, I would say who's pitching is the best for the weekend.

Bucketlist, don't worry about being a provider of good competition for weaker teams, worry about finding better competition for YOUR team. Winning at 10u is important, but so is losing. Teams will not find out how good they can be until they lose and figure out why. If you take 5 players on your team and have them run a race side by side to 1st base, one player will win that race. The player that won will have run fast enough to beat the other 4, but I guarantee the winner will not have run her fastest, rather just run fast enough to beat the other 4. Moral of that story is that if you constantly play teams at your level or below, your team's development will become stagnant and tied to the development of OTHER teams. Losing 25 in a row is not healthy, but playing down and winning 25 in a row is not the path to development.
First trophy is priceless, second one is great, third one is good, fourth is nice, fifth and beyond will likely be quickly forgotten.

How can you distinguish on paper to find the better teams if teams hide behind the "B" designation? Too many teams play B just to stay home and play in a B "World Series" which is just a regional tournament. It happened in Illinois and probably going to happen in Indiana with NSA hold B there this year.

The whole problem with that is, those teams will either tick off parents of the better players for staying a B and leave or their team will get a B label and fail to get better players at tryouts. Most of the parents don't realize that the coaches have signed the team up as B.

Illinois ASA is trying to get away from those teams that are just trophy hunting. They have combined the A and B state tournament at 10s and 12s after years of threatening the teams to police themselves. "If you have a pitcher that can throw strikes you are an A team."

The other organizations' directors need to grow a set and police this better than just taking the $$$ and running.
