First concert:
1976-8th grade, a friend's mom took us to see Peter Frampton, J Geils, Rick Derenger and Foghat at Anaheim Stadium...

Small world Arto! That was my 1st concert and I was in 8th grade. Looking back can't believe mom dropped us off there. One memory still sits of a stoned dude trying to walk and tie his shoe at the same time. Was that you?

Went to that one and more than a dozen others at Anaheim Stadium. That was the Golden Age for seeing rock groups in SoCal. Remember watching the concrete upper decks bouncing up and down at the Who concert there and thinking Holy Shit! My ears were ringing for a week. It was sweet. Went to that Who show on Friday night and camped out so I'd be one of the first ones in when the gates opened on Sunday. I also remember camping out at the Forum to get good tickets for concerts there when they went on sale in the morning. So many great memories of stuff that happened in the parking lots.

Thank God I didn't spend that time reading posts in a youth sports message board written by adults. I'd still be in counseling.

Edit: Since we're reminiscing, anyone else used to go camping at the Kern River at The Slides or the Tubs? Those were some fairly wild parties. But the Man shut those down eventually. Apparently there was an issue with all the people walking around openly hawking all manner of drugs. Odd.

Best concert memory:

San Diego 1981 - Rolling Stones
J. Geils Band and George Thorogood and The Destroyers were the openers.

My ears were ringing for a few days.

Haha, no, but I remember my friend and I were amazed at the people a couple rows in front of us passing something back and forth, until it got so small that they were burning their fingers, but kept passing...

Squirrel, I remember going places in LA like the forum really early/middle of the night to get tickets...some big fat guy was always there running things, and you had to get wrist bands and stand in line forever...

ontheblack...saw that same Stones tour in 1981 at the Coluseum in LA.
Same lineup, except some little pipsqueak named Prince opened. However, the fans were not ready for what Prince had to offer. When he took off whatever coat he was wearing and was left only wearing a jockstrap, well the fans threw shoes at him until he ran off the stage...who knew?
Sat a few rows in front of Johnny Mountain and Beverly D'Angelo...

Licorice Pizza! Bought many, many vinyl albums there!

Doesn't all this good stuff beat calling out Whoville Warriers or Corona Del Mar Angels as being bad teams?!?!

My brother saw Iron Butterfly and The Who in '69, Janis Joplin in '70, and The Stones in '71.

We didnt know where he was for two days after Janis. I'm pretty sure he didnt know either.

Prince, Robin Trower, Boston and Black Sabbath

Price came out on stage and sat in a chair and started to play. The crowd wanted nothing to do with him. He was bombarded with shoes and had to run off stage. I was very young at the time and what a learning experience that was.
