Might want to double-check with Mr RnR Gold about that before you're so certain...
I have no need to check. Remember this was an ASA conversation. What IFA does is another conversation. So to answer your question I am "certain".....and its triple checked!

Sorry my sarcastic friend - the original statement of this post was "
Is anyone else getting tired of paying these high tournament and gate fees to play on crappy fields and and have crappy umpires? Where do you have to go to get better fields. Can all the coaches get together and agree to play somewhere like Rainbow Fields or Tracy?
When you arrived at this little shindig
4 days later, it was you who brought the ASA channel into the mix. The rest of us were simply comparing notes on the various crap venues. Rainbow fields and Tracy are not standard ASA facilities although the recent ASA 14u Regionals used the more-than-acceptable fields in Tracy back in July.
My comment was in direct response to your offering that "Tournament directors" )note the non-use of the ASA term) have no influence. Simply put, that is wrong and remains so.
You also bring up the various ASA tournaments that do charge. As we all know, this is not a function of ASA but rather a function of the local TD. ASA does not mandate charging and in fact in many areas, charges are not the standard fare. For some reason, the need to charge exhorbatant fees, restrict coolers and player drinks and in general hold hostage those who seek to enter a facility has become common in Northern California and many are finding it objectionable. Last season, I walked up to the gate at the local association tournament with a starbucks cup and 1" of coffee remaining. The overly officious idiot in charge at the front gate immediately jumped up and in an overly loud voice, announced that I either had to dump it or stay outside and finish it. I was tempted to dump it on the sidewalk right in front of him, but a rarely cooler head prevailed and I simply smiled and drank it.
The thrust of this post is not picking one's umpiring crew but rather why teams and their supporting entourage continue to pay for crap facilites and ridiculous policies when other facilities with more sanity remain available.
