How ridiculous can MAXPREP's be???

What's on your mind?

by SnocatzDad » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:46 am

I think it's just a source for newspapers to access information on HS teams/players if they happen to do a story. Newspapers don't really care if it's accurate, and don't care to do the legwork to get accurate numbers because it's just HS sports.

There is a local high school that over the years has not posted any ROE or FC and the team batting average is .350 or better every year

If Maxpreps posts that your DD is hitting over 700, you copy and paste it and send it to your colleges of choice

DodgerBlue... sorry to spoil your fun but I have no issue with my DD's stats. After all, she is on a team with 4 players in the top 20 for offense, 2 in the top 10, great offensive stats, 1-9 record and can barely score a run. And they're known for their defense. So, I guess you will just need to figure that all out by yourself. Think hard. You can do it.

Two other schools we play against have a couple girls batting over .500. We seldom see those players in a game as they usually play JV. The disadvantages of a close knit community.

Net/net; when cooking the books don't be too obvious.

The only reason I waisted 15 minutes on MaxPrep was because other parents asked me questions about the stats. Since I don't follow them I took a look to better understand why I was being asked. Now I know. People like to laugh !!!!

Another note; at a game last Wednesday a father on the opposing team told me about a scorekeeper for their team that wasn't... totally... familiar with the concept of a "hit". According to the scorekeeper, a "hit" is when a ball is "hit" in fair territory.

Ok, she is 100% "correct". It is true. A ball has been "hit". Of course one could debate whether a foul ball is also a "hit" given that definition. "Correct" but not "right".

Got to laugh...

It happens everywhere! Couple of weeks ago my dd's team played against a team that scored a ground ball between the shortstop's legs and under the LF's glove as a home run on a no fence home field. I bet they like having no fence...it makes for lots of home runs!!
