Hello Everyone. Seems teams are getting back into the swing of the things once again after some recovery time from either the TCS tournament / St. Paddy’s Day Vegas / and/or local Spring breaks.
Just to give you an update, as I said a few times, the next poll, due to be coming out soon will be coach and manager driven before Fresno Force and once again before States (yikes it’s getting to be that time already !...)
After some private correspondence, and without going into details, it was deemed that Firecrackers 99 will be removed from this upcoming poll while they have some time to get ready for the rest of the season.
That being said, and in exciting news, there will be a new #1 10U team on the next poll one way or another and a new everything. What also might change is the number of teams ranked too. Depending on the scores, teams with 1 point which were in the top 15-20 previously might be omitted. So in the end we might only have a Top 15 or Top 12 depending on the voting.
I did want to also mention, not all teams and coaches are struggling with this issue, but it is important to not take this poll too seriously. Keep in mind negative and abusive behavior wasn’t acceptable in Rec. Ball, All-Stars, it is not appropriate in any organized youth competitive sports, it is not acceptable in the home, and it isn’t acceptable in 10U youth travel ball either. Some coaches need to get re-aligned with proper behavior and turn things around in a positive manner as a role model for their team and this especially applies to the parents as well.
I even heard some complaints were taken to the ASA themselves recently and it would be a shame if teams were to lose their opportunity to compete because coaches cannot behave themselves. All your hard work would be ruined for nothing right before the big prize. So please, these are little girls, the games are not do or die. The poll is merely a conversation piece and a way to track the progress of our children and a way to recognize Southern California Youth 10U travel programs and travel organizations which always compete at a national level.
