10U TOP TEAM RANKING (SOCAL) PRE-ASA STATES FINAL RANKING !

by Sureno » Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:33 pm

Well as JATD said Yeah I did say CE99 belonged in top five and the 2 spot but there wasn't much teams out there who looked like they belonged in that spot. Still see alot of Ifee teams. For all you haters talking loud about CE99 only having a good number 1 and thats it. Hello I think everyone is pretty much on the same level, pitchers like them are hard to come by, so yeah it all comes down to who's team of girls play well all around that day. So CE will show up at Mizuno sunday 7am sharp, lets see how it goes, tuff day vs. #1,2, and 3, but will be good to see these games alot of fun.. See you on the dirt............

Good luck to everyone this weekend. I think this is the weekend everything and everyone truly gets back into the swing of things.

Please post results, comments, and general banter about your games. I will also be tweaking the top 20 after this weekend and providing the long needed adjustment to the rankings. I will do another tweak again before St. Paddy's day tournament and then after that weekend we will go back to the polling system monthly up until States May 27th, so we should have a poll after St. Paddy's, after Fresno Force, and one right before States. If you are not attending these tournaments, then you are not in it to win it !!!

Take care and good luck to all of the 10U teams.

OK--- it's been about two months since the last rankings was updated and was long overdue. These are my tweaks and adjustments based on observing other teams and my 5-6 coaches I keep in close contact with that I consult with (SEE PAGE 1). There will be 1 more tweak before St. Paddys and then after that will go back to a pure coaches poll once again.

I didn't feel any teams really went out and earned the #3/#4 spot and there was more argument to bring teams down in the poll than teams that have earned their way up. So for now, the #3 and #4 spots are open and TBD at any time.

Enjoy the update...

How many of these teams are going to play at State, and how many are looking at going to Nationals?

Considering how this year is shaping up, I would recommend all teams on the top 20 to attend States, there should be no question on that. This provides more options for all teams. All teams attending States qualify for ASA Western Regional Nationals in Oregon this summer (those who place 1-2 at Westerns get an automatic berth @ 12U for Nationals!!!). Those who place at 1-4 at States qualify for the big show--- ASA Nationals in TN. Those who place probably 5-8 (I could be wrong on # of slots) qualify for ASA Pacific Regionals for another shot at qualifying for Nationals and if no dice then you still got ASA Western Nationals.

2010 is shaping up to be a much better year for 10U than 2009.

2010 shaping much better in terms of number of teams yes. But no where near the top level of teams of last year Firecrackers '99 only team that is on same type of level as Franchise,Victory, Crunch or even American Athletics of last year. So in a way yes more teams but alot of mid level type teams ie Desperados and Dynasty of last year.

Well this certainly is the year of "quantity" and not so much "quality", so yes I do agree with you. It seems on the whole the pitchers last year were a grade or two higher on a lot of teams in 2009 than 2010.

Crunch, Franchise, AA, Victory all had strong #1's and #2's and other then Firecrackers (CF99) I can't necessarily say the same this year. A girl like "Dora" @ Crunch98 pitching a true/real 50mph even in the fall 2008 a yr ago hasn't really been seen in 2010 so far (closest I would say is the Jynx pitcher) and when I hear these coaches talk about their pitchers doing 52-54mph (a 'parent' told them that ---just had this conversation a week ago with a coach), who just doesn't know what he is talking about, sorry coach!!!

What I do like this year more than others is that right now #2 onward is up for grabs and a lot of teams could step up and improve and take things wherever they would like. Not saying they can't take #1 but last year 1-4 was pretty tied up one way or another and the only reason why Dynasty 98 qualified was because Crunch had their berth from Western's the yr before and didn't enter States. I can still see certain top 15 teams with the right adjustments qualify still and last year barely had 10 active teams.

I like this year much more than last year overall...

Decent job on the rankings Team Watley should be alot higher than they are they have a 2000 pitcher that throws gas and time will tell. So. Cal Knuckle up, Strike force 99, So Cal Venom, all have been beat by Murietta Impact but i have a feelin some of your coaches that help you out on your poll are from Strike Force (lol) . Bottom line is that friendlies r friendlies and Tournament results will determine the poll.

Friendlies R Friendlies (Bombers Coach) :o Whoops, did I just say that? Hey coach, I'm just glad u didn't pull your pitcher to allow the time to expire. She pitched a great game and deserved the tie. We all get a little "Rec-itis" from time to time. I guess FC99 can take it as a sign of respect.
