12U TOP TEAM RANKING (Bracketologist) Updated After STATE!

by nairdlafox » Sun Nov 08, 2009 11:01 pm

San Diego Aztecs won the 12U Turkey bash (Triple Crown Sports) in Palmdale this weekend.

They outscored 3 opponents 34-2 in pool play on Saturday, and then won 5 straight games on Sunday to win the Championship, outscoring their opponents 36-5. Great coaching, pitching and hitting. A team to watch after finishing first and second in their first two tournaments.

How about this for your first post...Brackey, you did a great job putting us #6. We played two other top teams in the Turkey Bash this weekend #8 CA Cruisers and beat them 2-1 and #15 PS '97 and beat them 2-1. Thanks for ranking us #6, I think you are doing a fine job.

Congrats on the victory. Leave the other BS out.

Yea, I think this team is pretty good. They beat us up pretty well last month.

That would have been a great 1st post. :D

I would also like to congratulate the #17 American Athletics on their victory over the #9 San Diego Renegades 97 to win the USSSA Fall Festival tournament this weekend.

A pre-Thanksgiving tourney poll with some predictions. Looks like the Toys-for-Tots tourney will be a better tourney.

I will publish a pre-thanksgiving poll.

I am really looking forward to the ASA Turkey, why?

1. 1:20 length games in pool play and 1:25 in bracket.
2. The big four will be there
3. This is the tournament that traditionally starts the major roster moves in 12u because:

4. Some teams will find out that all of their friendly or TCS type of wins mean zero and they are simply not competitive enough to make a run at ASA Nationals with their current roster.
5. A team with 2 very good pitchers will ultimately lose one of them before ASA cards are signed, because the parents of the pitcher that did not get to pitch the game in which their team got eliminated or won the championship will be pissed.
6. Expect the same from a team with 2 very good catchers.
7. The result of this tournament is probably the only tournament result that will matter to the parents of the player that ultimately will determine who will be So Cal’s leading contender to win ASA Nationals.

I hope I’m wrong but the one thing that stays the same in 12u is the size of the egos of the parents……

ASA Turkey Shoot

American Pastime
Bomb Squad
California Grapettes
Corona Angels Lockman
Corona Xpress
Firecrackers 97
Firecrackers 98

Irvine Sting
Minors Gold Alvarez
Nemesis 97
OC Batbusters 98
OC Batbusters Ray
OC Batbusters Snow

OC Elite
OC Frenzy
So Cal Bulldogs
TeamSmith 97
USA Atheltics 98
Valley Tribe

The AA's Toys-for-Tots tourney is a great tourney.... but historically it does not draw all of the top teams (OC BB Snow & MG are missing this year)
