I agree. If it were 70 min drop dead and no new innings after 65 min I could under stand.

If you drop dead you have to revert to the last complete inning for seeding. The game would last 70 minutes drop dead if the home team is at bat in the last 5 minutes. One of the tie breakers is "runs for" so if the home team scored runs in the last 5 minutes that would be applied to their record if they 3 and out at minute 66 game over. Maybe it's over Kill. This however goes to show why TD's are so reluctant to change because no matter what you put out there someone is going to challenge it and try to make an issue out of it. The principle is to seed the teams to bracket and have a tournament in which every game count 8-)

I understand your 65/70 minute theory if these were drop dead games but your tournament says finish the inning. They are 65 minute games finish the inning, 70 minutes will not come into play.

No what he is saying that if the home team is batting and is ahead in the score at the 65 minuite they would keep batting untill the 70th minuite or untill the 3rd out. They could keep adding runs which is one of the tie breakers.

Sounds like 65 minutes finish the inning to me

But normaly if the home team was up at the 65th minute game over. This lets them bat an additinal 5 minutes.

It is BS. It is a 65 min game no other way to look at it. If it was a 70 min game it would say 70 min. in the rules. I can not stand it when TD do this. I would rather pay more and play a real game of 80-100 min like it is in nationals. To many TD only care about the money. Sure it is about the money but a 60-65 min game is just not long enough the let the momentum shift more than once. IMHO.

I've only recently seen a few tournaments actually use it. I agree with 22'sdad. I heard of no negativity from the Bomber Tourney. I remember it working out real well! So who's going to be the first TD to grow some giant mountain oysters and do it? It could certainly be a feather in your hat!

The line from Field of Dreams. " If you build it they will come" The coaches and managers need to start putting the pressure on the TD's to start seeding the teams. One way to put pressure is for the managers to let the td's know if they want the teams support they will try the seeding process. Then "we will come" to your tournment.

We're going to use this format for our 12/11-12/13 Toys for tots invitational 3 pools seeding to a single elimination on sunday 24 team limit (all in one age, 12 in 2 ages, or 3 in 8)

3 pool games seeding to a single elimination Bracket 4gg
70 min pool games finish the inning, no new inning after 65 minutes games can end in a tie

Bracket games 75 minutes or 7 innings, ITB rules if tied
Championship game 7 innings Straight play no time limit, no ITB, extra innings if required.

Can somebody explain 70 pool finish inning w/ no new innings after 65 min. That seems to cause trouble almost every time we play in tournament that has that format. If it's finish the inning, why not just make it 65 min. What purpose does the 70 min serve, you're not getting any extra minutes cause you can't start new innings after 65. Do TD's have that cause it appears that you're getting longer game.

Ok if you'd like to call it 65 minutes fine I tried to explain the reason maybe I  misunderstand the concept. It was simply to give the home team a bit of an advantage in the tie breaker during pool seeding if possible while trying to maintain a schedule. The Brackets are 75 minutes. The championship game is 7 innings no ITB, no time limit, extra innings if required (?Last Tournament you where in with a no limit Championship game and 7 innings?). With 4 fields and limiting the field to 24 at $100 per team how is it about the money? 3 pool games seeding to a single elimination all the games count.

What are the game times in Alvin this weekend are they 90 minutes? I'm sure being a round robin they are 90 minutes finish the inning right? ;) Because if they are I need the number to your Umpires for $30 PAP 90 minute games

I thought all this game times and formats were discussed in an earlier post.
"what kind of game formats do you want for next year." That is close to the topic of the post.

Maybe you should go back and revisit that post.

And Now it's the 12us turn at Rm. Let the smack talking began. Is there any team you all want to face. Any team you hope is in the other dug out, teams you want to put in the losers bracket or knock out of the tournament. Lets hear it less then a week away
