Top 12U teams in the DFW Metroplex

by 1OPNEON » Thu Oct 29, 2009 9:15 am

Are there any tournaments coming up where these teams we are talking about will meet?? I'd be curious to watch a 98 team take on a 97 and see how that goes. I mean there have been 97's in the tournaments they have placed in!!
It's my opinion....and that's all that matters!!

I doubt it. Most of those 97s are playing all 14U. You're right there have been some 97s in those tournaments and I'll say it now that Rip, Dbat (who actually has some 97s), 98 Glory, 98 Pride, Danger Zone, will continue to run through THOSE 97s. I'm just saying-when the elite teams come back to 12U to qualify all of those 98s will come back to reality. 98 Rip would be the only one you'll see playing those 97s as I believe they are playing some 14U this fall if they haven't already. :o

I can't wait for that!! But also, those 98's will have gotten better by then, it will definitely be some great softball!

Good point about the 97s but how many are truely all 97s. Our team has played most of those teams listed in 12U and are now playing them in 14U. Although they claim to be the same team, they seem to have grown several girls from 5ft to 6ft and several girls are now driving to the games.
I am not sure how many of these teams are really 98, 97, 96??? Seems like there are more hybrids than most are admitting to. Why? :? :? :? I notice this mostly with the large organizations.

Not only that but if you are going to hybrid them then why deny that you have older girls on the team? What is the big deal? Why play up to 14u if you are going to pick up a bunch of 14u players...

So do any of y'all know any true 98 or 97 teams that are competitive??

You're right, and I honestly don't know which ones are age pure and which are hybrids. I don't know though-I think if you ask most of them they'll tell you. At any rate we'll all know when qualifying time comes around and those teams aren't there. Freedom and Fireballs I know are age pure or at least the last time I talked to their coaches, that was their intention. Pride, Fusion look like 10U teams. Showtime is still playing 12U and they also have 98, 96, & 95 teams so I'm guessing their all 97s. Same goes for the Batbusters. Who knows though. Guess we'll see.

In regards to big organizations lending and borrowing from different age groups, I guess that is a perk or a donwfall depending on point of view. Not every coach is the same, so I wouldn't like my players getting picked up by the older or younger team...what's the purpose??? Trophy Hunting??? Develop your own girls and make them better instead of picking up players and sitting yours down just to pick up a hardware piece!!

It's probably safe to say teams that play up aren't trophy hunting. ;)
