First, a big shout out to my man arto. I look forward to receiving my first HB citation from my favorite zeppole dunker. There are so many places I would like to start that I kind of feel like that ADHD person wearing the t-shirt that reads...ADHD, about as cool as a honeymoon handjob.
First in regards to the coach of the team in question. I know this man and he is a proud male Latino. As a fellow Latino, what all of you don't understand is the power of pride and machismo in the Spanish heritage and culture. Unlike so many other minorities, I am not utilizing this as a "race card, therefore get out of jail free card," but simply making all of you whitebread crackers out there aware of extenuating circumstances. In law, extenuating circumstances are criminal cases in which, though an offense has been committed without legal justification or excuse, its gravity, from the point of view of punishment or moral opprobrium, is mitigated or reduced by reason of unusual or extreme facts leading up to or attending the commission of the offense. Moving on, Mr. Wells, you show your lack of softball intelligence and experience when you make blanket statements such as, "Like I said there is not one coach who would not eat the last 60 seconds of the game!" I know of several coaches, all very successful and extremely well respected by their peers that would not, do not and never have intentionally stalled a game. In fact sir, you have just defamed these very people. In law, defamation–also called calumny, libel , slander (for spoken words), and vilification(for written or otherwise published words) –is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. It is usually, but not always,[1] a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant). Judgenjury has spoken!
Next up, Mr. Joboo, perhaps you should lay off the rum. I am amazed at all of the D-Bat parents that have popped up on the radar screen since this team's formation. I can understand their giddyness. They finally have a few "tall" trophies to put in their DD's rooms. As someone who has been around the scene for quite some time, I am aware of many of the girls on Mark's NATIONAL team roster. Let me preface by saying that all of these girls are quality kids and great players with tremendous skill. But before we go and crown them national champs, or even Texas state champs for that matter, perhaps we should hold off and not hastily jump to conclusions. The simple facts are that about half of this team came from Mr. Wines tutelage, which speaks volumes; and the other half have bounced around from team-to-team over the past several years. In addition, some of these girls have been associated with the Fusion team in the past and for whatever reason are no longer on their squad. There is obviously no doubt that talent will get you far in tournaments. However, experience in big games and big tournaments and coming up with wins in those situations will probably get you further, assuming talent is comparable. Fusion has done this and a 3rd place finish at Nationals buys you a seat at every big game final. I can also think of another team that might perhaps "hang" with your DBat team. The Diamonds. In fact, they probably have more big game experience and skins than any other team. Now, that is all in the past, but they did still manage a Top 5 finish this past summer to go along with their Runner-Up finish in 10U. However, before I toot their horn too much I admit that I have heard many negative things about the long-term outlook for this team. Lets all be real about this DBat team: most of those girls have limited experience in winning games, much less winning big games in big tournaments. However, when all the smoke clears next spring and summer, I truly believe this team will be in the hunt.
Finally, I do not apologize for the long read.
"...and if we don't get some cool rules ourselves, pronto, we'll just be bogus too."
