Also an above pitcher that throws 40 to 52 or a all around true utility player with power, speed and can start a rally at anytime she hits the field??
I think when you're talking about 9 & 10 year olds, they are one in the same. No one knows who is going to be a great ball player at this age. Any one of them could be an amazing player in a "year or so" and any one of them could give up softball completely in that same amount of time. Let's be real here-at this age level the fun of the game still outweighs the serious side of it. If I'm assuming correctly and this has to do with your DD or something going on within your team, again let's be real-most coaches aren't building for the future. The turnover of teams is so bad in DFW that your team may not even exist in a few months. It's a win now mentality and a lot of talent gets passed on. My oldest is a pretty good HS player and she was one of those that was passed on in the early years.
Personally and from a coaching perspective in 10U if I had a choice between a pitcher that can throw 52 and a true utility player-I'm going with the pitcher. Do I get a catcher to go along with that?
