By the way, I know I picked the Red Hots to win this tourney, but that was before I knew they were in the 14U Texas Lite tourney.

I don't think the Red hots will be missed in the 12u tournment, since, it appears, they have developed the attitude that they are "too good" to play lowly 12u tournments.

Good luck red hots I hope you suceed in whatever you are trying to do. You have lost my respect by laughing at the other 12u teams.

If I am wrong about this then I will say now that I am sorry.

Let me repeat what I said, " The Red Hots will be at Burroughs this weekend."

Not Laughing, Not intending to confuse anyone, just trying to clarify that we will be at Burroughs Park this weekend... in 12U...

In that case my pick goes back to the Texas Red Hots for the Burroughs.

Why take a shot at them for playing 14U...they are not turning their backs on 12U when they do play 14U tourneys. They are trying to get their team prepared for the important 12U tourneys (state, nationals, etc) when they play in the 14U tourneys. It is about the development of the players...not trying to bring home another piece of plastic. The local 12U tourneys are fundrasing tourneys that do not carry the significance of the states and nationals.

Tex -
Why are you so bitter?

When I look back on all the posts...I don't really see the red hots posting negatively about other teams. One of their coaches is arrogant about their team but haven't seen them put down other teams. But when I look at your post you bad mouth their team and other teams like HV. Seems like you have something against these teams....

These local fundraising tournaments should be played to work on preparing your teams and all of your players for the big tournaments. If you win them great and if not it won't be the end of the world. The only "W"s that count are the ones that get you to HOF and Nationals.

Hopefully it will be a great weekend for softball and lots of competition! Good Luck to everyone this weekend!!

I am a firm believer that you support your own division and the tournments that division has first, then if you have established your team and find NO competition then move up.

You can not live on past glory from last year.

I am not bitter. I think the Red Hots and High Voltage are 2 class organizations with fine coaches and great players. I just feel as stated above they need to play and support their division and consistantly win there before they move to 14u. I feel they will find all the competition they want in 12u.

Diamod Gal:

I have no disagreements about playing local tourneys...my DD's team plays in them. However, there is nothing wrong with playing up an age level in those tourneys to face stronger competition. You are still supporting the local tourneys while preparing your team for those difficult HOF, State and National level tourneys.

Hey Tex and Bring It –
If this Tournament doesn’t provide any swagger or mean anything then why play it? We should all just practice up for the RM since you say it’s the only important one. Wait a second the Red Hots are going so it must be good enough for them. :o

Merlin what team are you with

Diamondgal- The more "W"'s these girls get at the local tourney's the more confident they will be for the ones that count. Confidence is big for a 12 year old kid.

Good to see strong opinions :ugeek:
