“SIMPLE”

(Ifubuildit) should go back to “REC” :arrow:and sip your (juice boxes) if you can’t handle “SELECT” and (Boom boxes)
Or better yet take up “lawn bowling” or “bird watching”

“STOP” trying to control the TD’s and everyone else attending tournaments, just because you can’t control the outcome of your “GAMES”

What are you going to do in the future during sporting events, spend all day running up and down the stairs demanding everyone “BAN THE MUSIC” for you, good luck!!!!

Notice that most the folks who think the boom box is ok have less then 25 posts. Kinda funny how that works. Also, just because a team is playing Christian music does not make it ok or good. As a matter of fact it is worse. I don't think the Catholics, Jews, Buddhists, Atheists, Agnostics, Muslims, Scientologists, Krishnas, or Mormons want to hear that stuff.

Leave the boom boxes at home.
To each their own.

Ban 'em/Moratorium. How about listening to the sweet music of the sport? The bat off the ball, ball into the glove on a bang-bang play. The kids verbally picking each other up in the game..... there is nothing greater. I LOVE LISTENING TO MUSIC JUST NOT AT AN ELITE YOUTH SPORTING EVENT! JMO. Let the girls have thier Ipods and the parents have XM or Sirius on the way home.
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

BoomBoomPow,

You have made an incorrect assumption in that you think I'm a parent of a 10U softball player. I could be an umpire, a coach, a concession worker, a field worker, or just a person who's concerned about the message we're sending to kids who have to listen and watch two adults come close to blows at 10 U tournament over a stupid boombox.

I am as big a music fan as anybody, but when I see a display of adults who have very little regard for the influence and example they have on kids because of their actions then I have a right to speak up. What I witnessed at Southlake was nothing less than disgusting and nothing more than adults acting like kids in front of kids.

Even if the tournament directors do not take action on this issue I can promise you that the parents of the players who witness this kind of circus will be writing ASA,USSSA,AFA, and any other number of softball governing bodies to complain. Eventually those bodies will ban these boxes from select softball. If not the parents, it will be the umpires who complain to those bodies. They are tired of them, and the disruption to the game.

Let the players enjoy their iPods during the warm-up, and in between innings of the game. If they want to listen to music. But I don't want to see 10-year-olds exposed to the kind of music I was listening to, out there at Southlake. It was crude and unacceptable for that age group.

“JUDGE Ifubuildit”

If your main concern was that you observed two adults who have very little regard for the “influence” and “example” they have on kids because of their actions, then your post should have been more about your “concern” for this action that “YOU” and “many others” around YOU witnessed, if it was indeed nothing less than disgusting and nothing more than adults acting like kids in front of kids, we certainly do not tolerate or condone this behavior during “Select” tournaments

Perhaps your post could have read something like “Why do some parents have very little regard for the “influence” and “example” they have on kids” then it would not be all about “YOU” ;)

You first “stated” that the “altercation” was caused by the “loud VOLUME” :o

Later “YOU” were upset with the “CONTENT” of the music, make up your mind, and then towards the end “YOU” ;) become “JUDGE” and ‘JURY” for everyone involved with Select Softball ;)

At the very end “YOU” ;) again went back to “YOU” ;) and said “I” don't want to see 10-year-olds exposed to the kind of music “I” was listening to, out there at Southlake. It was crude and unacceptable for that age group”

Perhaps the post should have read something like “Boy (I) was really upset with the person that had the “Big Rolling Boom box” and what (I) had to listen to and (I) am going to fix it for all of Select Softball and (I) know that everyone is tired of them” it’s all about “YOU” ;)

I was not in Southlake :( so if "YOU" ;) were indeed an “umpire, a coach, a concession worker, a field worker or just a person who's concerned about the message we're sending to kids who have to listen and watch two adults come close to blows  at 10 U tournament over a stupid boom box” or even just an innocent bystander out late at the ball park on a Friday evening with nothing else to do “MAYBE” ;)

But I believe that if we dug a little deeper into YOUR “personal obsession” with the “Big Rolling Boom box” the team you just happened to be rooting for would surface somewhere, just a thought!!! ;) ;) ;)

What are you going to do “JUDGE Ifubuildit” when you attend or stroll into one of the “Select” National Tournaments as a spectator with all of the “Custom Built Boom Boxes”  there will be far too many for you to handle, they’re going to have to call an ambulance to take you away!!!!

Well “JUDGE Ifubuildit” Select parents have handled it so far without “YOUR” ;) expert assistance, and when asked to “turn down the volume” I’m sure it has always been “addressed” and as for the music content a simple “that’s really not appropriate will do for most “Select” people

But hey “JUDGE Ifubuildit” thanks for at least allowing everyone to listen to their I-POD’s in your last sentence, it’s so kind of “YOU” perhaps you could find it in your heart to purchase I-POD’s for everyone attending the next ‘Cowboy’s” game so they do not have to listen to the loud music in between plays and at half time, do children attend those games, or are “YOU” running around the stadium monitoring everything for them too??? :geek:  :geek:  :geek:

AS I STATED BEFORE;

“JUDGE Ifubuildit” should go back to “REC” and sip your (juice boxes) if you can’t handle “SELECT” and (Boom boxes)
Or better yet take up “lawn bowling” or “bird watching” :ugeek:

“STOP” trying to control the TD’s and everyone else attending tournaments, just because you can’t control the outcome of your “GAMES”

What are you going to do in the future during sporting events, spend all day running up and down the stairs demanding everyone “BAN THE MUSIC” for you, good luck!!!!
