I would vote on this but the 99 KruZers are not on the list. How can that be when they are one of the only true 99 teams that qualified for 10u A nationals with no 98's.

Danny does a good job with the Kruzers 99 team. As far as qualifying for 10U A Nationals, there were only four teams in the tournament, and two teams got the bids. So, it wasn't like they won a 15-20 team tournament. I was at the tournament in Ft Worth, and I think the B Metro had better teams in it than the A (except Rhine BB). Of course, just like the rest of these posts, that's just my opinion. Let me know what you guys think.

JJJobson...read our earlier posts...they are not on the list because they are 99 playing 12U ball...in order for them to be qualified as one of the best 10U teams, they have to be playing 10U ball...they ahve 2 10U tournaments scheduled for the remainder of this fall and 4 or 5 12U tournaments....so if we were to start a 12U pole...they would have to fight to get in the top 10 of that 12U pole...because they are playing 12U. Since they are playing so much 12U ball we (this board) doubt they will drop down and play 10U next spring...this pole is for 10U teams for this fall and next spring...

answer your question?

The last few statements brings up a good question.....why are so many qualified select teams so intimidated to play "A" ball?

I know not everyone is intimidated by it, but can someone tell me why more second year teams in there same age group don't play as an "A" team. I understand that all new select teams should play "B", it makes since.

It's obvious that ASA is not going to manage it, so the teams should make the right choice and play "A", especially if you are on this list. It obviously can't hurt your team, if anything I would think that it would help your team eventually get better. What are ya'lls thoughts?

I totally agree with you slapleather. If more teams would be honest and play A ball, it would make the A teams better and let the B teams be more competative in their first year of the age group. Instead, too many coaches want to play down so that they can go to work on Monday and brag about their trophy. In your second year of an age group, you should be playing A ball.

I'm always a little confused about the north Texas "A" vs "B" debate. In Houston we have tournaments, everyone jumps in and we just play. Now in early summer there are Allstar only tournaments (which by ASA definition are B classiied teams) and Open tournaments which will occasionally find 1-2 Allstar teams stepping up into. If you are not from a drafted league were ability "does not" dictate participation you are classified as an "A" team by ASA definition, regardless of what VTD allows the manger to select or the TD decides to classify their tournament as. 8-)

What kinda of poll is this? There was a question on this tread about the 99 Kruzers and are they age pure? The answer is yes.

I've seen alot of the 10U teams play in North Tex and know that any and all that have complete disregard for the 99 Kruzers because "they are playing 12U" in the Fall doesn't truly understand the development and challenges of the players the coach is trying to impress on his team; and how good the team is if the coach places them in 12U for competition. Of the teams listed in the 'best of the best 10U Poll', none of them have played in the ASA National...Of course, 99's would have been early this year but the only 99' to qualified for an ASA Southern National and accepted knowing every team there would be a year older and probably better.

That is what its about folks - Not worrying about the trophies but the development and challenge to prepare the team for the future. Guess who has a head start ;)

The teams listed as being the best in 10U best play 12U now in order to prepare for the Spring. Danny Molina and his coaches are providing a playbook in preparation for ASA "A" Nationals next year.

...next time a poll starts for North Texas 10U, be sure to have all the best teams identified...there's a few that should be included on this poll! If the teams are doing it for the trophies, I'm sure we all have a few that we can drop ship to those needing the gratification.

...."Why play A when you can play B"....Why play up when you can play down and be the king of your dominion...

as we continue to keep it real!

Very well said. Seems everybody is all worried about winning and trophies right now. Don't get me wrong, I like to win also. But the main thing at this age is developing the player and the best way to do that is to push them and to play stiff competition. Then all the trophies will come. I applaud the Kruzers for playing up.

I couldn't agree with ya'll more on the playing up. I have made that recommendation to my DD's teams coach and of course got shot down. It doesn't hurt to play at a faster speed, throw a heavier ball, hit a heavier ball, etc.

After playing a hole bunch of 12U as a 10U, you should be able to dominate as long as there is good coaches who teach not good but great fundamentals and good small ball.
