DD Being Forced to Change her Number, might leave team!

What's on your mind?

by NYR » Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:31 pm

So she is 13 and is thinking of leaving the team because someone else has her number??
Come on.
Why does it matter how fast she throws, or how many pitches she has or that the other player is an outfielder?
If she is thinking of leaving a team because of this she should just leave because there is going to be much worse than not getting your number -- buy the way my DD is a pitcher also and throws 6 pitches blah, blah, blah .... but that has never helped her get a number. If you liked the manager before you should stay with the team, if you didn't think of another reason than your daughter not getting her number.
Come on.

How many of our DD's really picked their number? I bet most started off wearing the number of one of their parents. Then it probably changed to the number of the parents favorite player, or the best player of the position they they think their DD should play.

Two seasons ago, my DD switched teams mid season. She didn't get to pick her number but instead was given the jersey off a player that recently left. Since the coach never asked what number she would like, I thought my DD would for sure ask to change it. She replied...."Who cares. Besides, I like the girl that wore it last anyways."

My DD still wears it. She had the chance to change it recently and she again said..."I don't care. If a teammate wants it then they can have it. If not, I'm fine with keeping it."

I was just dying to contribute to this thread.

Did I make page 31 yet..
I read the 1st seven then skipped to 15 then 19 then 2?? At that time I had no idea what a pole barn was or what the thread was about anymore. So i gave up, drank some caffeine took a cold shower, had a weird dream about poles attacking a house and they made it into a pole barn, then made it to page ...Geez forgot what page I was on again. I might just go and read the best 10U team in Houston thread then post a comment and we can have a race too 100.. ;)

so.......my older DD has been # 8 for years....not sure where it came from. We are so used to cheering crazy 8, Ocho, here we go 8.....

anyway...she had to change her number as we changed teams. The cool thing is that her good friend on the old team wanted to be #8 all along so we loaded her up with all our stuff.

So....she was not upset.....and just chose 21. She said....#21 can't lose in blackjack...I like that number!"

Done deal...here we go blackjack!
I'm gonna take this right foot, and I'm gonna whop you on that side of your face...and you wanna know something? There's not a damn thing you're gonna be able to do about it!

It should not have any thing to do with what is on her back. It should be whats in her hart . Just tell her to keep her head up and have fun while she can.

My DD is 20 now. Last month her divorced mother remarried and moved to a new house an hour away. Options given: move with Mom and change colleges or get your own place. On short notice she has : Found a 2nd job, rented an apartment and bought a car, while taking 15 units.

Do you know why she was able to accomplish all this?

Somehow I think not!

She decided it was time to grow up. She's took charge of her own life and did what she had to do.
