I agree it is big girl ball, but that did not answer my question. what year would you classify the team as a 97 or 98? If you play with 97's on the team then you should expect to beat the 98's. If you have some 97's and loose to a 98 it is an upset, even if the 98 team is the best out there. If a true 98 plays a mixed team the mixed team should be the favorite; correct?

I just do not want to hear any crap about calling our team a 98 and then someone say oh they are really a 97 etc. we may need to just be a year less team. I am not the coach and will not have anything to say about the decision.

If you are a all 97' team and beat up on the 98's there is nothing to boast about, you just took care of business. I would not expect a mixed team to boast about beating a true 98 as well.

When you are good and you win games, no matter what ages you have on your team someone out there will always find a reason why you beat them. If you are made up of more 98's than 97's call yourself a 98. Just win games and let the bucket heads sort it out what you are. In my book 12u is the real first taste they will get of playing against girls that are allot bigger, older and more experienced. Especially in the fall. This is were girls and there parents find out if they really want to play travel ball. From here on you are going to fight to find a spot on a roster. If you are really trying out for 'A' travel ball teams. This is also the age that the daddy ball teams are exposed or ran off the field. Hold on tight it will be an interesting ride !

Early predictions from Merlin may have some flaws, but interesting incite. ;)

Red Hots - Solid team with Pitching, Hitting,Speed and Defense. Play against the best to be the best. It is all about Nationals for this team.

High Voltage - Team has added some depth to their Hitting and Pitching. They will be ready to compete for a top spot and definately have their eye on the Red Hots.

Tx Rattlers - Strong Hitting Team. They lost a Pitcher, but the coach always finds players and they will put a good team together.

Tx Ice - I hear they have 2 strong Pitchers going into the Fall season. If so, I see why they are getting the votes. They work hard and have some big hitters.

Pearland Panthers - They play very focussed softball and always compete. Not sure if they have added anyone, but when you are from Pearland, it is usually not a problem. Pearland is full of talent.

Tx Heat - I believe they lost a pitcher and great all around athlete. I have only seen them play a couple of times so we will have to see if they are ready to compete at the top level.

Ldy Stros/Tx Storm - Believe they are now the Tx Storm. Added a pitcher and great athlete. This team did well in the tournaments they played last season.

Tx Sting 97 - ? Not sure.

TPS 98 - This is the top 98 team based on what they did this past season. They will be at the top of the mix in a short period of time.

Tx Sting 97/98 - They have a one of the Top 98 Pitchers and have added some 97 players to the roster. This will be another team ready to show what they can do against the 2nd year teams.

Good luck to all!!! :| :geek: :ugeek:

I did some checking and I agree with some of Merlin’s statements:

Red Hots: Aiming for ASA National Championship – pulling 2 talented athletes from DFW and added a pitcher that can hit.

High Voltage: added a pitcher and a catcher and both have some serious hitting talent

Rattlers: lost more than half of their team and can’t find out who they picked up, but their posting says they are only looking for one.

TX Sting 97 – not sure why they are listed here. Did not see much out of them last year.

Texas Heat – if they lost that pitcher that is the only reason I knew who they were.

TPS98 – after an initial adjustment period I think they will make it to play on Sundays but still won’t compete with top 97 teams.

TX Sting 97/98 – is this the team that the other poster was asking if they should be called 97 or 98? One of the 97 players is really good, but not sure of the others.

Troublemakers: did this team make? I haven’t seen any more tryouts posted.

Lady Stros/TX Storm: added another pitcher but not sure about their defense being consistent.

Pearland Panthers: always a solid team but not always consistent. One game they can hit the ball, but then their defense isn’t there. Next game it’ll flip flop.

TX Ice 97: surprised that they kept it togther after seeing their players at tryouts. Maybe they were scouting?

Good Luck to All - looking forward to a fun year
