Blind Squirrel, Donnie S & Watcher - Class of 2009

What's on your mind?

by Bandit20 » Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:14 pm

My DD leaves Friday. I swore I was retiring from coaching this summer after Nationals, but am staying on as assisitant coach on DD's travel team. Its gonna be weird with DD not there, but I have known most of the girls on the team for a long time and the last year was the best (and funnest) year we ever had in softball. I'm single, so I need something to do when the fish aren't biting.
Unfortunately, DD's school is a 7 hour drive, so I will miss quite a few of her college games. Hate that part.

You will fly back to the midwest at least 3 times in the next 12 months. Once in the fall & twice in the spring. And your DD may even play in Palm Springs in Feb.
You say "What now?" . Well, I would welcome you to join me during the high school season to keep you busy. It is still kind of like travelball plus I have 4 lefty slappers who could use your 'expertise'. You would have 12 'daughters' who would be crazy about you.

Hey Coach,

Actually her team will be out here for the Palm Springs tournament. But why would I be
traveling to the midwest? Do you know something I don't?

Would've loved to help with your high school team if I weren't 155 miles away.

Donnie & John,

A little jealous that you both still have time left with the girls :D . Mine already started CLASSES today.

John, your dd cracks me up. Please give her my best wishes on her upcoming college experience.

Will do and of course give mine to Raven. Damn shame we couldn't get one of these coaches to take both of them for a season. Would have liked to see what would happen with Raven hitting in front of Sam. Even better, would have loved to see the look on Sam's face if Raven went in to pinch run for her. She'd be pissed at being taken out but at the same time seeing the sense in it.

Hey, maybe they can get on the same 23U team next summer. Or we can pull together our kids and some of their peers, put them on a team and apply to play in the Premiere Tournament. We'll say we're a foreign team. You can coach and I'll steal signs, heckle the blues and yell at the opposing team's players.

Not sure who Watcher's kid is, but I know who the rest of these gals are and get to watch one of them in person.

Looking forward to rooting your kids on and wish them a successful and peaceful freshman year!

I just thought of what this post will look like in 3-5 years since a huge amount of us HB'ers have 2012, 2013, and 2014 kids. DonnieS, 2.6, GIMNE, and Blind Squirrel will be laughing at us.

All the Houston, Dallas, and SoCal 10U parents will be running the forum. :o :? :o :?

So you think 12U brackets don't already tickle our funny bones today?

J/K (kind of). 12U is big time fun.

I'm not part of the 12u stuff anymore, and I think it is hysterical.
