New To North Texas

South is anywhere BELOW D/FW, and all they have is higher humidity, worse traffic, and the occasional hurricane (weather, not the drink)...just kidding you fine houston and south TX folks If you have any questions or want more in depth personal opinions just PM me, or 3B Snag....Honcho Out!

Yea butt D/FW had a earth quake - and we dont have earth quakes in deep south texas, and we have the beach and we really need a gold transfer student. And we have good mexican food.... and good seafood.... did I mention we dont have earth quakes.

That was an earthquake? We thought it was a refinery blowing up! I will give you props on the seafood and mexican food! But when that is all you have, you better be good! Now as far as beaches, most of the texas beaches, I can find as good beaches at any N. Texas lake! awwww..I'm just having fun, South Texans are all good in my book!

We just need another experienced player here at the high school.

We moved back to Texas when my girls were very little and I didnt know much about girls athletics. Had I known what I know now, I would have settled in North Houston, DFW, Central Texas, or maybe SoCal (though I dont think they let texans in to SoCal, at least not to stay). It would be so great to be able to drive 1/2 hour or even an hour to get to pitching practice, instead of 5 hours, I love coaching but I wish I had a choice way back.

Ditto on the hs player needs, we need one as well. I understand about looking back on choices, we lucked out that Garland is an open district and were able to get in there as she is a fabulous coach who played at Baylor, and is very respected, AND best of all plays the best players regardless of age! Now SoCal on the otherhand, besides the scenery and coaching, what do you have high taxes, high property/cost of living, worse traffic, and REAL Earthquakes! Besides you'd have to eat bean sprouts instead of Tex-Mex or seafood! Donnie you done good....need a job in DFW? We need another transfer!!!

Yea, you're right about the bean sprouts, maybe not socal. And I dont do traffic well - but self employed - home office since deep in the last century, my commute is 20 feet or so, sometimes less. Dont tempt me though. How far is garland from college station?

about 3 1/2 to 4 hours....easy commute! Plus Garland High always plays in the Bryan Tournament. Think of the exposure! And I'll fly in some gulf shrimp and snapper every week for you

The tough thing with our high school, Tuloso Midway, is that its a year around school. So by nationals week, first week of August usually, my kids have been in school for 3-4 weeks. Sucks big time - I got into an argument with dd, "You will miss a week of school to go play ball " Daughter - " I will not - and you cant make me !" I then realised - wth am I saying to this kid. So any team that wants to pick her up, has to deal with the fact that she wont be there if they make it to the big show. My dd has this goofy idea that school is for learning and education and all that - instead of what we know it is, a place to stay in doors while you wait for practice to start.

ona serious note though, she has her head on straight! My boys are trying to follow their old mans footsteps. Football, girls, parties(order varies). Thankfully the girls are still ok! That is why I hate the year-round concept though, it seems to interfere with extra-curricular stuff at a more elite level. Did I mention Garland has an IB school and is on a normal schedule? hint, hint

BC, sometimes persistence pays off. My wife is very pretty....I definately married up and anyone who know me knows that. Persistence my friend persistence! Are ya'll interested in relocating to our area?
