DD Being Forced to Change her Number, might leave team!

What's on your mind?

by tommytuttle » Mon Aug 10, 2009 9:38 pm

I will give one other twist on this...My DD had same issue with a team as it moved up. This was a few years ago, could have left. She didn't and now looking back she could care less, never mattered after the first week and she is best friends with the kid that had the number. They have won a lot of games, shared a lot of fun times and numbers....what are the numbers again???? Her new number is her number, now in HS and whereever, and yes my DD was the #1 pitcher, who cares.

Changing teams when not unhappy sucks...Grass is never greener! If you have brown grass, move if your grass is green stay and be happy!!!!

Thank god we did!

SHE SHOULD BE PLAYING FOR THE NAME ON THE FRONT OF THE JERSEY----AND NOT JUST THE NUMBER ON THE BACK......THE NUMBER IS ONLY FOR RECORD KEEPING.......

I will never cease to be bewildered at how a thread that is dug up after a year and a half will be responded to as if it were first posted yesterday :?

Many, many new members since this thread last made the rounds, hence new fascinating commentary.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Yes, but you obviously just don't understand that when Suzie doesn't get to wear #7 it really bothers her.

Favorite question ever........Made to me DURING A TRYOUT 2 YEARS AGO......"Do you know if any of the girls on the team have the #22? If they do, would they trade? I know I probably sound stupid right now but if not, please let me know because there is no way my daughter will play if she doesn't wear #22"

1st year 14's! hahahahahahaha So anyways, after I gave her #22.....Just kidding! She wasn't a fit!

" She wasn't a fit"...God I love that line..almost as good as " With all due respect"..

Basically, I respect you, but what you just said was stupid..!!

What is the official translation of " She wasn't a fit" ..?

After reading all of your opinions, thinking it over, and laughing hysterically at some of the responses, it seems our focus was turned to watching this thread more than worry about the number. It was good to see that some may have disagreed with us, but more importantly, other's shared our general opinion so our hurt feelings were somewhat validated. DD chose to stay on the team, so nothing more was said to anyone else on the team (just to a couple of non-softball friends). The young lady that took over DDs number ended up being very nice (we never expected otherwise, this wasn't about the other player)and is now a good friend of DDs. DD pitched for the team throughout the season and by fall tryouts decided she wanted to continue to play for the team in 2009, so she obviously has put the issue behind her. She still makes a face whenever her number comes up, but she's never said a thing about it to the new friend who has the number, and the girl has never said anything to her. The issue was never as much about the number itself as it was about how the situation was handled by the coach. In the end she obviously values the new friendship with the girl more than the relationship with the coach or the number. On goes the ups and downs of being a 13 year old! And in the end, it was her decision on whether or not she chose to leave or stay. I think she made a good one.
