Bleacher Creature, can you shed some light on this? Is it true, and if so, WHY?????

Yep it is true,It was a known deal since before the end of last season. all I can say is I guess it was time?????
We will be hitting the Try out circuts just like all the rest of everybody
Going to be a tough time this year lots of good ball players

You can possibly add one more to that list , and that is the MC Magic...

True about Magic as well although there is a possibly that several of those players are trying to form a 16u team (just rumor at this point). Personally I would love to see all of those girls at DD's team tryouts but we'll see. BC, like I said your DD is welcome to come out as well 8-)

Interesting. . . what other teams at 14u/16u benefit from this?

Peppers, Hawks and Magic gone. I hate to hear that!

I wish Texas treated the 16u level like California does. California does not seem to rush their kids into Gold like the Texas teams do.

I would say that these were the best 14u teams in the Houston area and now they are splintered across the talent pool to try and compete with 17 and 18 year olds for positions on these Gold teams. I saw all of these teams play on multiple occasions and I hoped that they would continue on into 16u and then into gold with their respective teams.

I think that MOST of the kids on these 3 teams will find spots on Gold teams. I think that all of their pitchers/catchers will get spots and most infielders. But what about the "fringe" players that are either incoming freshmen and not looking to move up, or are just not quite good enough to play at this level?

That IS funny . . . the best players in California have been jumping from 14u to 18u Gold for years. It is the norm not the exception.

In California, 16u is generally consider a wasteland for future Div. II and JUCO players. The truly remarkable thing was for the Lady Magic to hold it together as a group to win a national championship in 2008.

I have known Robert Hoskins a long time and I would not be the one to speak on his behalf.
PM me your name and cell and I will be glad to ask him to call you. All I can tell you is it was agreed it was just time for both of the teams (Hawks and Peppers) to let the girls move on up to 16/18/or 18g

so my kid is looking for a team???? ;)

I really do not think your DD is going to find it too difficult finding a 18G team to play for.

However - I really do think YOU will have it rather difficult finding a 18G team willing to put up with you!!!

PS - But don't worry too much..... hell I was able to find some team that was dumb enough to take my sorry arse..... oh yeah - and my DD to boot!
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!
