Some pretty good 14u teams in Houston going away?????

by Cipher » Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:34 am

I have heard that The Peppers (Hoskins) and The Hawks (Prater) teams are disbanding? They were 2 of the premier 14u teams in the Houston area. If this is true, there is going to be a lot of talent out there looking for teams!

Bleacher Creature, can you shed some light on this? Is it true, and if so, WHY?????

I would think that the girls are going to Gold teams to try and get exposure. This generally happens at this age group.

What are the top Gold programs in HOUSTON? Not the best team but the best chance to getting your kid in the right tournament and be on the right fields.

if you do your home work and your daughter sends out the right information, then there is no need for the "top teams". Your DD has to have softball ability and you have to market her.

No need for the top teams????? Just remember that the organizations mentioned are playing all the right showcase tournaments across the country. Their coach's word is trusted at the collegiate level. From what I've seen, they sign a better part of their juniors and all their graduating seniors.

Yes, the parents/players have to do their part, but no arguing that being a part of the organizations mentioned will definitely help your DD.

Texas Yellow Ball is correct. You have to put the time and research in and get your player before the college coaches. The right gold program helps a lot. Go to the websites of the gold teams around Houston and look to see what percentage of their players are signed or "committed." Are all of their seniors "signed"? Are the players who are signed or committed going to schools that your daughter is interested in? If your dd has her heart set on playing in the SEC, is the team placing players with SEC schools? Knowing this information will help you choose the right program.

If the Tanel Texas Peppers Gold are not folding, then why fold the 14u team?

I have known Robert Hoskins a long time and I would not be the one to speak on his behalf.
PM me your name and cell and I will be glad to ask him to call you. All I can tell you is it was agreed it was just time for both of the teams (Hawks and Peppers) to let the girls move on up to 16/18/or 18g

so my kid is looking for a team???? ;)
