In California, it is normal for the best 1st year 14s to make the move to Gold after Nationals. Even more common for the next tier (below the top 1-3 players who go up after one year in 14s) to skip 16s and 18Us and go to Gold. We must have over 75 Gold teams in Socal, and they're populated by 14-18 year olds. Sort of a "if you think you're DI top 50 program material, you better skip 16s and don't even THINK about 18U."

I don't understand. Then why is there so many scouts at 16U Nationals????? I heard more are at 16U Nationals then 18U Gold. Sorry for my stupidity but could someone clarify this for me.

Because we are the topic of this thread, I will try and clarify some of the rumors. First and foremost myself nor any of my parents to my knowledge sent any letters or made any phone calls concerning the roster of the Kruzers, so why anyone would say that is just beyond me. We have no issues with that team and infact have invited the Kruzers to our freindlies and played against this team numerous times this year. Second, we did lose some players, but still have the majority of our roster intact. This is the time of year where players and teams make changes, both sides where mutal in every player leaving after nationals. We wish those players goodluck. All that does is open up an oppurtunity for another athlete to make an impact on our team. You can take this information I gave you for what its worth, but I will not spend alot of time talking about it, because we have more important things to accomplish.

...I agree with this theory and application. Great point.

Absolutely agree with the skipping 16u point! But around here there are a lot of parents that just don't get it and would rather build a winning 16u team and try to trophy hunt in local tournaments.

I heard on the grapevine that they lost their two starting pitchers first base and outfielder and a whole lot of hitting.Dont think that their team is majority intacked.
