I have a few questions to understand your state.
What part of the state are the more prominet teams from?
What are the bigger tourneys you all have to offer??
What affiliation do most the team partake in?(USSSA,NSA,ASA etc)

I'll chime in from the perspective of a parent who's DD's are on still in the younger end of the spectrum.
The Indianapolis area always has some of the better teams, it being the "big city" and all. At 10's and 12's the "region" always has a number of strong teams. I think they start kid pitch in their rec leagues at 8U where as most of the rest of us don't start until 10U and even then it is sometimes modified. That being said, the best team in the state this year (ASA 16U 4th place in South Dakota) is based out of a very small town in mid-north Indiana.
At 16 and 18 the big tourneys are the ASA qualifiers. I don't think we have any really big exosure tourneys in Indiana. For 10, 12 and 14 NSA "A" state is probably the only time all the "A" teams play in the same tournament.
At 10s, 12s and 14s NSA is the dominant sanction in the northern and central part of the state. USSSA seems to be the favorite in the southern part. At 14s ASA starts to gain in popularity. 16s and 18s ASA is the big show as teams try to qualifiy for ASA nationals.
Indoor softball is also very popular in Indiana as the weather prohibits outdoor play from November through March. We have 3 facilities around the state that host indoor tourneys throughout the winter.

There are others, too. The Circle City Showcase was new this year, and I think there is one in Muncie in the fall. While showcases in IN are not "big" in terms of being well-known, they do attract midwest D1 schools.
