Who will represent Texas?

by txfastpitch » Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:03 pm

Which Texas team do you believe will have the best showing at Nationals this year. I know it all depends on the draw, but lets have a little fun.

I say 95 Texas Travelers

Well, lets see a list of teams and what age group your talking about. I assume 14u from your team choice but what about the others?

Any of these teams can do well at ASA Nationals. Lots of factors come into play as we all know. Draw, game times, etc..

SC Mean Green, Hawks, Batbusters would be my favorites do go the farthest. None of these teams seem to be intimidated by anyone they play. That is going to help them a lot at nationals. They play aggressively and hard and they never give up and they are all good defensive teams. (Defense wins championships, right?)

Don't forget the MC Magic. They are always a threat and always play hard. They can bunt you to death if they see they can't hit your pitcher.

Deer Park TPS and Houston Power can sneak up and beat some teams if they think they are just "little 95 teams" If you think you can skate by them because they are young, you are going to be in for a fight!

Peppers are not the same team this year as they have been in the past. They are still quality, but they are no longer the "team to beat" like they were in 12u (one of the best 2nd year 12u teams I have seen.) or 1st year in 14u. I know they lost several girls from those teams. (Bleature Creature, didn't several of the Hawks play on the Peppers?) If the Peppers get it all together, they could do OK.

Kruzers are still young. If their pitchers are "on", they could win some games. If they are not, they are in trouble.

Texas Travelers are a '95 team that can get hot and beat some teams also. They are very streaky. If they come into this tournament on a hot streak, they could make the bracket very interesting.

I think all of the Texas teams are playing for 4th or 5th place. SoCal :x :x :x :x IS that much better than the rest of the country! I hope I am wrong!

They will be lucky to win one game at nationals...if they get a favorable draw!!!

The 12u group are all very streaky.I have seen Fusin play very well at times--"Forney". I feel they still have some proving to do on the big stages.

The Diamonds are all over the board. You never know which team will show up. They can perform on the big stage & have proven it a couple of times. Also as seen in Forney this past weekend they have a couple of injured players.WILL THEY BE BACK 100% FOR NATIONALS?

Glory has gained some respect over the season & are playing much better. I believe they to will suffer in back to back championship play at nationals due to their lack gel time as a team.

Based on talent and experince my picks from the Dallas metro are:

1.96 DIAMONDS
2.96 FUSION
3.96 GLORY
4.97 KRUZERS

Also I dont see any of these teams placing 1st at nationals. I DO BELIEVE TEXAS WILL MAKE PLENTY OF NOISE IN NORMAL............ GOOD LUCK TO ALL ...................

12u from the south

Bandits
Aces ....... Should do just fine. I do not believe any Tx. team has the complete package to be in the top 3. They all have a weakness... No N.Tx. or So.Tx. team have shown to be dominant in their own state as of yet ;)

I like these two to go the deepest:

Aces- Sticks need to show though
Bandits- If pitching is on could be in the Top 3!

These three:

Fusion, Diamonds, and Peppers should make it pretty deep.

The Bandits have a strong hitting team, if their pitching holds up, they will place high.
One of the most proven teams in Texas.

The Fusion have a strong pitcher.... should also do well.

The Aces have the most consistant pitching out of all the Texas teams that I have seen play.
They have a couple of known power hitters that have struggled to hit those bombs that they are capable of hitting, if they peak before nationals they will be in top 3.

Texas should have at least 5 teams place in the top dozen.... If, always that if, they play at the level I have seen them play
