This is the very reason why my DD is going to Valencia despite the very difficult competition on this team. Her 6 week summer camp for the incoming freshmen is ending next week. My DD absolutly loves DL. She is so excited to be a part of this program.

Go Vikings! :)

I hope your daughter gets to play. Ask the girl who transferred from Harvard Westlake how the promises made to her fell flat. Once the girl that pitched last came on strong the HW girl kept the bench warm.--GOOD LUCK. I think what most people are saying is that if a girl doesn't want to stay at a certain school that's fine. But they should have to play down one year. I know that's not what the rule is. No girls or boys should be rewarded with being a starter(right away) on a winning team after leaving there old team high and dry.

Guess they'll need to either remove their game from that milk carton or transfer to Canyon.

Demonboy: YOU get a timeout!!!

Don't you EVER edit out humor in the name of political correctness! I expect better from you.

That was not for political correctness. I found the milk carton blast to be much funnier.

Thanks for ruining it.

What promises are you talking about? Are you saying she was promised the #1 spot or equal pitching time throughout the year?

That is the story, and I talked to a parent today whose DD plays at Valencia and can't stand the coach and told me what everybody knows she Recruits. If fact his DD will mostly quit after this upcoming year because of the games the coach plays and she will not play for her. Also that parent told me that each of the schools have a class the other doesn't offer, just to leave the door open for transfers. And the reason he knows that is because he wanted his DD to transfer and had talked to another coach. But she didn't want to leave her friends. This has been going on for years and you wonder why she has won so much.

What proof do you have that she recruits? Every post that accuses her of recruiting offers zero factual information. Why has not one person responded to the earlier post that one of the schools in question had their head coach attempting to "recruit" one of these players and was unsuccessful? Either they are all doing it and it is OK, and you can't stand the fact that you lost out to another program, or the fact that the programs themselves are the actual draw for certain students pisses you off. If you are upset with the rules, do what you can to change them. Is this rule something new to everyone, or are you upset with the fact that the rule benefits the better sports program? This is not a softball issue! This rule is not in place for athletics, it is in place to protect the school district in regards to all interdistrict transfers. The earlier post refering to this process being in place so DL or any other coach can recruit is pathetic. The rule is in place so all students have the option to enroll in any class offered in the district. Every school has a class unique to only that school. I am pretty sure the district keeps it that way to avoid law suits.

Valencia loses its catcher. Magically, two of the best freshman catchers in the Foothill League, both from the same travel team which practices at Valencia High School, transfer to Valencia High for "academic" reasons. Hopefully, none of us are naive enough to believe this was mere coincidence. It is my understanding that athletic transfers are not legal. However, I'm sure that in this case every loophole was utilized. It seems to me the only way to ensure a transfer is for academic reasons is to have the student sit out a year of varsity ball. Apparently that is currently not the rule. That's a shame. (Why did the GV pitcher have to play JV at Saugus this year?) To me the problem is that the constant exodus of the best players in Santa Clarita to Valencia High School renders the Foothill League moot. Why have a league at all? Regardless of who gets the blame in these situations it's not fair for the rest of the girls in the Foothill League, who are more or less condemned to 3 to 4 years of futility.

I can't believe this topic has gone on this long. It's like beating an old dog over and over. I can understand the frustration...but evryone needs to move on.

Reality is that DL is NO different than any other coach out there. They ALL recruit. To think otherwise is foolish.

Also, does anyone truly love their coach? No one is perfect, especially coaches.

The fact is NOTHING in life is free and for EVERY promise or gift made or given to you, there is a catch. I tell my DD this ALL the time.

All my DD can do is go out there and give 100% plus, when she can, and hopefully be rewarded. If that fails...THEN we will change schools. ;)
