Valencia strikes again!!!

by ratzdad11 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:40 pm

I would like to know how Valencia High School loses their starting catcher and the next thing you know Golden Valley and Canyon both lose a girl that can catch to transfer. I heard that the girl at Canyon transferred because the school doesn't have the class she wanted. I think there is some illegal stuff going on and a lot of lying. I know that the girl from Canyon was denied the transfer by Canyon personal and the Hart board allowed the transfer. She needs to transfer because of a class. Bull. I think all Schools in the Hart district should offer the same classes. And isn't it funny I heard both of the girls play for the Choppers that practice at Valencia. If people are allowed to transfer they should not be able to play Varsity for a year that is the rule. I also know that there was text messages being sent to Canyon coaches about the girl at Canyon. "I quote I guess your shortstop will be playing for us next year" And as far as I'm concerned the rule should change, if you want to go to a different School. MOVE

I am very familiar with that school districts jockeying of players within the schools. Anyone who was around Hart ASA B with kids in the 91-95 age groups understnads the dynamics. Alot of the top talent has been playing out of thier direct bounderies for more then a few years. Valencia and Hart HS's generally get the gold mine,,,, Canyon & Golden Valley generally gets the shaft. This is no different. I think the loophole is the 1 year doest go into effect until after the softmore year starts. The canyon kid was the best 94 catcher from our area(when she caught) in my opinion and was playing SS behind a D-1 Oklahoma bound player with a senior year left. When in Rome.

ps - its HS ball. From watching this season, it isnt what its all cracked up to be.
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

The Santa Clarita area has some really top notch kids from the 91 - 95 age group. My DD will be a freshman at Valencia in the fall (we actually live a half mile from the highshcool) We considered various options due to the competition at Valencia. My DD decided that she wanted to attend Valencia because its one of the best high school programs around. Instead of running from the competition she will take it head on. I am proud of her decision and admire her for it. She could have taken an easier route, but at the end of the day, it's high school ball.

I think the players that play travel ball want to attend top notch high school teams in order to keep the level a play up as much as possible so they are ready to go when the black out period ends after CIF. You cant really blame them. Unfortunately, it seems the Cyn High and Golden Valley get hurt in this process.

These girls (I am good friends with one of the families) didn't break any rules.

Can you elaborate on "she could have taken an easier route" ?

Thanks.

I wish these parents (ZZ , HABITZ) would quit BS-ing the school board in saying its all about a class, when everyone in the santa clarita valley and travelball knows its all about SOFTBALL. I also know that Donna lee's husband Gary Lee is on the CIF board, he is the one who will make the decision on who plays or who dosn't get to play. SO GOOD LUCK CANYON & GOLDEN VALLEY.

Your right they didn't break any rules, but it is not fair to the schools. Like I said that rule needs to change. The big thing is lying about wanting to take a class, when everybody knows that's not the reason the transferred. And since they let them do it. They need to play on JV and pay there dues for lying and cheating the system.

I am trying to understand why the transfer of these two kids would bother you? If the school board allowed it, that's all that matters. It's legal, period.

Perhaps this move demotes your DD "since were assuming here right".

Donna Lee is one of the best high school coaches in California and if you knew her you'd realize she has integrity and respect for the game. Her husband is not on the CIF board - Donna is! As a matter of fact he leads a diversity council on the school board after being a principal at a local junior high for years. He's a community leader. The coach at Canyon has done his part to prevent a transfer - unsuccessfully. Whether you like it or not, the players both transferred legally so quit crying foul and claiming something must be illegal. So what if the girls play on the Choppers? A lot of local talent plays for them as they are the only legit gold team in the area. Santa Clarita has been loaded with talent for years, not just '91-'95. Valencia has won 9 straight league titles, 2 CIF championships, and a "national" title. Who wouldn't want their kid playing for Valencia? It's a no brainer. With a new CIF transfer rule, freshmen don't have to sit a year and if the school has a class that isn't offerred elsewhere, then it's a win-win. No rules broken. Good luck Valencia. Keep winning in spite of the haters.
