WHO ARE THE TOP 10 - 10U PITCHERS AND CATCHERS

by REALLY » Fri Jul 03, 2009 9:22 am

TX Sting #1 is as strong as the TPS #1-#2 I know how hard it can be as a pitchers dad to not try and boast so I'll give her the credit for ya. ;)

You have one that I will keep my eye on as well. I like the look at the promising size and athletic ability of your daughter. She will emerge as one tough to deal with I'm sure of that. Like a young thoroughbred that dose not yet know how fast she can run. Keep her on the track and working hard. I will like to see her when she hits her stride and comes out of no where. Just remember cream rises to the top ! By the way thanks for the kind words.

Thanks she works hard and loves the sport being a year younger then her teammates and competition makes her work even harder. Now if we can just get her through these growth spurts of a 1/4 inch a week maybe she can settle in. 88smom couldn't agree with your throughbreed analogy more. She's pumped about going to 40/12 this fall we'll see how things pan out.

She's a 99 and will move to 12U this fall and unless she just can't compete she'll stay there in the spring. The extra year of 12's will be more valuable then the year of 35/11 she has always played up less a small stint to bring her back to girls her own age.

We played the fall at 12u and it really helped #1 with her speed when she came back in the spring to 10u. I will give you some advice especially if she has always played up ( #1 played 10u since she was 7yr old as a pitcher ). Play the fall up if she wants, but let her come back down in the spring to dominate among her peers. It will teach her at a young age some intangibles that she might not have a chance to learn as always being the younger pitcher on the roster. I think allot of people think we put allot of pressure on #1 during tournaments and push her hard and long. They are right, but she has learned this is what that position is about. I will crow a bit now ! # 1 in my opinion is the toughest mentally of any pitcher I have watched in 10u since I have watched 10u travel ball ( and this is my second time around ). She has the focus and competitive streak in her that I have not witnessed in any other 10u pitcher. She does not rattle easy ! In my opinion it is her greatest quality of all as a pitcher. You know your daughter best I'm sure you will know what's best for her. 8-)

Almost identical with 88 we're leaving it up to her. Her mental toughness is the key with her. She really understands that there are 8 other players around her and that they are there to support her and vice versa when she's in the field. She doesn't get rattled by a hit or walk.

12u in the fall gives you a peek at what kind of movement she has on the ball, and they will have to become mentally tough because everyone hit's you in your first year 12u if you play against the better teams. Best learn real quick to keep it off the middle of the plate or you might be eating it. :o
