My DD wore one when as a pitcher back in 10's a few years ago and they were $34.95...

This is a perfect example of why they are needed. Someone edited it to add some sound effect but if you notice the pitcher had absolutely no reaction time.

Just curious has anybody used a wire mesh goggle type face mask (no plastic) called BangerZ.
Saw a collegiate game Texas against TA&M the ss was wearing this mask. I looked it up on internet and ordered it 39.99 for my 14u third ss and third baseman.

I am on a slow pitch board with serious slow pitch men and they are really armoring up at pitcher and 3rd. I guess that Worth has a pitching helmet and some are wearing Lacrosse helmets.

They are seeing grown men being practically killed from line drives.

The pitchers are also wearing shin guards.

SP pitchers have been wearing the lax cages around here for about 9 years now. Same with the shin guards.

As lightweight as the lax cages have becomes, I'm surprised more youth players haven't given them a shot since the game face while compact, only offers what I believe is minimal protection.

Thanks MTR. I know nothing about Lacrosse. Do you know if LAX started out without wearing safety equipment or did they always wear helmets?

The SP teams I see aren't even wearing batting helmets, but the runners are getting taken out by wild throws.

It has been my experience that FP is slow to change, but let new high power bats come out and they seem to embrace those.

Do you mean the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy? No, they didn't wear much of anything, let alone helmets. Women's lacrosse teams do not wear helmets (don't know why). Men's lax has worn helmets for a while and I would assume that was initiated when the game was inserted into the box.

And they won't. Players "taken out" by wild throws most likely would not be aided by a helmet.

Too many traditionalist. OTOH, too many reactionaries. It is a tough line to walk.

Went to the website, the BangerZ vision mask and some of the lacrosse half masks look promising.
