1998 ~10U~ Houston Metro top 10 {R.I.P 08-04-2009}

by tex » Sun May 17, 2009 8:16 pm

The finals in Deer Park between Texas Sting and TPS 98 was the best I have seen in a long time. Sting's pitcher gets knocked down by a line drive, then comes back to finish the game. What a Heroic performance by that girl. Both teams made terrific defensive plays. It's a shame the game could not have ended in a tie because both teams deserved to win, but TPS did come out on top. I think we will see more games this year between these two 10u power houses and I expect them to be just as exciting. Congrats to both teams and keep up the great play.

One question? What has happened to Kaos???

Kaos pulled from the big 3 TPS, STING, PEPPERS and the SMASH (Saw it earlier too)

TPS needs a Catcher/Utility ( I wonder were she went?) :o

Peppers need players and coaches (yes plural) pepper's pitchers where both coaches kids

Smash? Don't know much about them but based on a previous post in this thread it sounds like they got their pitcher

Sting nothing posted but who knows......

Playing up to 12u and coming back down would probably be Trlicek's DD and maybe one other as he is shown on the Kao's site as a coach on the '96 kaos . ;)

They'll be good but short lived

Tex,
Please vist page 2 of this thread ;) Their saving grace may be the disruption in some of the other teams and the moves about to happen.

The KAOS seems to be falling apart at the seams. They several I think I saw 3 pick up players from the 99 and 00 ranks. Their big catcher wasn't there as usual. I am sure more turmoil to follow with that team as they lose their few remaining athletes.

TPS and Sting are definately the stand outs in this division but we have known that for a couple months now. It was a hard fought game with girls from both teams getting agressive. The Sting pitcher did take a serious blow to the leg from a TPS batter but the STING pitcher also beamed a good blow to one of the TPS players at the plate.
All in all a good weekend of ball, heres to many more..............

Really,

The only disrution I have seen from Kaos is the disruption to themselves. I have not seen an impact on other teams as you seem to indicate. If Kaos is to survive they need to have players, parents and coaches who want to play and who want to be competitive week in and week out with the top teams in 10u. What they are doing now does not seem to be working. In the end the girls are who suffer and I hate to see that.

By disruption I mean there are a few teams with players leaving and looking for greener pastures, teams on the verge of breaking up or changing leadership. My point was that a few of those may drift to Kaos and prolong there existance. Kaos is truely living up to the name and you are completely correct that it is all internal and only hurts the athletes.

I doubt there are enought "good" players looking for greener pastures to help out the KAOS any, once those players get to that team if they do decide to go that way, they will be sorry they made that decision. I haven't heard much talk about too much turmoil on any of the stronger 10-U teams- fill us in on what you have heard.

Fig,
All I said was prolong not Help ;) You are correct not alot of rumbling in the older teams (probably the focus on ASA nationals qualifing and USFA points earning) but the 99's and weaker 98's are falling apart. Teams that normally show up with 12-14 players in the dugout picking up players, coaches quiting, kids crying the postings are showing up on eteamz looking for 1 which usally means 2-3. I'm not going to name names but I will say that there will be a few shifts coming. Some will just be lateral moves but there are a few players out there that can help some of the younger teams.

I don't see major changes if any changes in Texas Sting (need a second bracket pitcher) Lady Stros, TPS, Pearland or Rage. The 99 teams need to take their lumps this year, as the 98 teams did last year, knowing next year they will be the teams to beat. I still believe Kaos just needs to teach the players, they have, to play good ball and the rest will take care of its self. If you notice the top 10u teams do not have alot of players coming or going, thats because these teams teach their players how to play the game therefore they are competitive from week to week. Most of these girls have the talent the good coaches really bring this out.

By your comment I hope you are advocating that pitchers intentionaly hit batters. There are enough injuries without that happening!!! That should not be part of softball and I hope no one would support their pitchers in doing that.

What great all around games by both TPS and Sting! The pitcher for the sting gets my vote for the player of the weekend, how tuff was she! Took that hard shot early and came back a pitched a good game. No she did not hit a batter intentionally, that happened later in the game and a pitch just got away from her. Everyone knows the coach only throws at number 22!  I look forward to many more battles between these two teams. I wish the Sting was going to ASA. :( In defense of the Kaos, it has to be very hard to try and bring a group together as basically a start up team for the spring and have such high expectations. I think people are piling on because of the smack talk earlier in the season. You can’t just walk out onto the field and think you can start pushing established teams around; it takes a lot of dedication from the kids, and more from the parents. Not winning all the time can’t be all the coaches’ fault. Congratulations to the Kingwood Edge to step up and take third, no one predicted that. They looked very sharp this past weekend.
