Indiana Top Teams Fall 2007

Thought I would give my two cents in as my first post. I know a little about the 14U teams, but mainly 16U and 18U, since that is what we played this fall/winter.

Of the 16U teams we faced:

1. Indiana Shockwaves 93 (Undefeated so far through fall/winter ball, very well coached best team we have faced by far)
2. Indy Crush (Have not played them, but saw them at an exposure tourney, talented as usual)
3. Indiana Gators (Hardest swinging team we played, everyone is going to get their hacks in - Still very young)
4. Indiana Diamond Chix (good solid team)
5. Indiana Renegades (New team, has very good pitching, defense, and speed, but lacks hitting)
6. Team Indiana (Good talent, but inconsistant)
7. Indiana Angels (They just won at Sportszone that had Gators, Renegades, and Chaos)
8. Indiana Chaos
9. Several are bunched up here....

Yes, the Shockwaves are a very successful organization with a long history of success. Their players were together thru 14U and the team has kept together. My DD played for the 14U Indy Crush at the end of last season, and the coach moved up to 16U this year. He's a good coach and he's also DD's hitting coach. The Chaos are also good with a lot of players that moved up from 14U, and are the same girls who also won the NSA B World Series in 2006.

Actually I would adjust the list since the Shockwaves have lost 6 out their last 10, including one to the Crush in Atlanta. The more I hear about the Crush, it sounds like they are really tough this year.

Indy Angels looked strong at the Sportzone at couple of weeks ago, a lot better than earlier in the year. And probably add the Red Chix in the bottom half of the top ten.

Talked to the Crush coach at DD's last hitting lesson. He said they went to Atlanta w/o their #1 pitcher.

DD's team, the Magic 14U, beat the Red Chix and the Terror to get runner-up in the Dome last weekend. Once again, the good Maniacs team kept them scoreless and took the championship.

Does the Maniacs still have the big ole' pitcher - I think she is the coach's daughter. They were very good last year, I believed they played mostly USSSA then. I remember her and the wild colors....

I hear that the Fory Wayne Fire have a decent 14U team this year also. Just looked at the 14U Magic's website, either you have short coaches or you have some healthy looking 14 year olds on that team.

Oh, yes, the Maniacs still have Sami. They put her in the circle and leave her there every time they play us. We've played the Maniacs three times and have yet to score a run against them, but few teams do' when Sami is pitching well. The Magic beat the Fire pretty easily last weekend which surprised me. I thought the Fire had been doing well, too.

All but two of the Magic players are second year 14Us who will be HS frosh in the fall. I think the master plan is to keep the team together as a 16U but we will see....

What do the 12U and 14U Diamond Edge look like this year? We ran into them last year and they are solid!

Last time the Diamond Chix played them in Fort Wayne, they soundly beat them twice, and it was like the Diamond Chix were hitting off of a pitching machine. I think they need to find a second pitcher. Sami's good, but she can't throw three games in a row. And just to make people aware, the 14u Diamond Chix are 20-1 with one pitcher 12-0 and the other 8-1. In two of the tournaments that the Chix have won this year, 5 of the 6 games in each tournament, no one scored against them. And by the way, the 14u Chix are eight true 13 year olds, and three 14 year olds. Looking forward to a great, great summer. GO CHIX!

I have seen the chix in the box scores, and looks like they had a very good fall/winter season. Sounds like they are very good and its nice to see another team, besides the usual suspects, playing great ball with great talent. good job...
