12u rankings

by ZIG » Fri Apr 03, 2009 8:57 am

It is only a Southern California ranking. Northern California teams are not included, I saw where a NoCal parent got on HB and complained about all the So Cal teams not not giving them any credit. Sound familiar?

NoCal does not make the trip South just like Centex and Notex does not.

SoCal is HB. They are the creaters, promoters and most active HB'ers out there.

In conclusion, SoCal and SoTex is where it is at

This would only be doable if there was a firm buy in from the coaches in the area to turn in their thoughts and not just mark the top 3 and randomize the last 22 picks. Anything of this kind is only as relavent as the underlying data.

Additionally if the data was available there could be a power ranking based on major tournament outcomes. Some formula could be devised to calcualte a power number. Once the power number came out it could be sent along with the ballot so coaches could see the production of teams they may have not seen in live action. For instance, I haven't seen the Fury play but I have played some teams that they have played and that gives me an idea of their strength.

Biggest issue with people reporting the scores of their games is everyone has time to do it when they win or produce in a tournament but can't find the time when they get beat down by a nobody in one of those 8 error games.

Unless there is buy in from the folks in the know building out a ranking system will be a waste of time better spent running around the state playing/watching ball

I personally feel most competetive teams have many good players and some excellent players. The problem with ranking 11-12-13 year old girls is many of these teams can beat each other at any given time.

Well the top 3 would be.

ACES
BANDITS
PEPPERS

The Aces have played very well in the last 3 tournaments they have been in. With there only loss coming to Texas Terror. Thats impressive playing. There are some strong teams out there also ICE96,KAOS,FBT,RIPTIDE,STING and Fury. No disrespect to any i didnt mention but these teams are very competitve.

Got Bandits ranked 2nd. As for the Crush there a good team but are on a roller coaster ride. They can be a solid team but as any team you have to prove it. Just dont fall asleep on them because you will be packing your gear up and headed home early

I would agree, the Crush is going to need more than one weekend in the top 3 to be considered a top team. They are a solid team when they are all in synch, but will need to prove themselves but consistently playing the better teams.

It was a tough weekend in Pepper town, but thanks for keeping us on the short list! We took the long route and just ran out of gas Sunday afternoon.

Not sure I would put the Bandits in the 2 spot at this point. I have to agree the Dueces are looking pretty good and have been keeping their team on top in 12U. Last weekend was a cakewalk at the sounds of it, this weekend they had to beat the best to be the best. FB Thunder took 3rd in 14's so congrats to them, that was a tough bracket looking at the list of teams. Unconfirmmed, but I heard they knocked out 95 kaos ??? Not sure I would even mention the Sting on a thread titled 12U rankings. I agree the Riptide, Ice, Kaos and Fury are all quality teams worthy of mention as well.

I am still waiting for your rankings Reb. Working on it yet?
