reflecting on history
there has never been equality across the board. So this topic of finding what is equal, IE: laws, rules & standards, will continue to float around making small adjustments here and there trying to figure out what equality really is, which includes what people's rights are or should be.
certainly there's a lot more to it than just the person standing up and saying I identify as. just saying it isn't that simple for people in that situation.
Can't speak for anyone else, but I know that's just what I want: authority figures making "adjustments" to laws, rules, and standards in order to manufacture equality in an inherently unequal world. What could possibly go wrong?
Authority figures already treating people unequally regardless of the laws
already in place!
If there weren't changes made to help equalize women's role in sports... Amongst other things too... Softball would certainly still be back in the Dark Ages.
I don't follow the bandwagon for all these political strides being made out there. But realistically there has been a lot of change in our nation in the past 50-60 years. That with out those changes millions of people would be adversely affected if women & and people of all creeds, didn't have an equal chance to work and equal pay in the workplace. (which still isnt equal)
Just sayin'

I get that about the authority figures trying to make up their own laws. Don't like it at all! Authority figures should not be controlling the outcome of changing laws and things like taxes. Should be voted on. Here in California we had that happen and huge expense to our gasoline tax. Not OK. Seems whatever political process was originally implemented has definitely gone Haywire! perhaps that's why there's so much push-back across the board on all these topics people are getting fed up.
How about the Olympics.
Now we have Paralympics
Those can compete in & have
their own Olympics.
Created to give people an equal chance to compete.
After 6 decades of total war on masculinity in this country (and the entire western world, actually), boys are in a state of absolute crisis. They are dropping out of H.S. more, going to and graduating from college less, failing to find meaningful careers and relationships, etc. Unable to conform with the expectations of a feminized society and its pathetic institutions, more and more boys are choosing to isolate from productive society--immersing themselves in video games, drugs, porn...whatever. Meanwhile women enjoy preference and privilege through every stage of life, and are dramatically outperforming men in every meaningful and/or measurable way. Yet we're still prancing out nonsense about "wage gaps". Still trying to flog the dead horse of patriarchal oppression.
Here's a news flash: women have
always been the dominant sex. Women run circles around men in the spheres of interpersonal and sexual politics, which means they rule the roost. Always have. Read Shakespeare. Read the Icelandic Sagas. Do they describe cowed, subservient women, or do they describe strong women wielding significant power and often playing the roles of puppetmasters in the ostensible world of men? Women dominated by men...hah! Look around you. Does that describe
any of the relationships that you actually observe in your personal life? We're sold a story about female oppression and we buy it even though half of the population is female and yet we've never actually seen it.
The "wage gap" is a total fabrication. When you control for other relevant variables--such as the preferences and choices of women themselves, the so-called gap completely disappears. Women don't want to work as hard, or as long, as men. And good for them. Women avoid certain types of jobs, especially dangerous jobs which often command higher pay. Again, good for them. Women take long breaks in their careers in order to raise children--often dropping out of the employment market altogether. Women are temperamentally more interested in people, whereas men are more interested in things--so men choose careers in things like engineering, and making stuff, whereas women gravitate to fields like healthcare and social services. The majority of medical school graduates are now women, for example. There are also more women enrolled in law school (a total disaster in the making).
For 99.999% of human history working outside of the domicile consisted of highly dangerous, back-breaking, life-shortening labor...which was performed almost exclusively by men. Over this same period of time, women had no reliable means of controlling reproduction, so there was a certain level of natural dependence on a male provider inherent in the situation. But the second that automation and specialization (and reliable birth control) made outside careers attractive and accessible to women in large numbers, women
immediately started entering those careers in large numbers.
So if we are to believe the oppression narrative, men spent thousands of years accumulating a massive power advantage--which advantage they used to forcibly relegate women to roles of domestic and sexual servitude--only to have that power dismantled in a
single generation? That's not a story of oppression. That's a story of women changing their minds. When it was better for them to stay in the home, they stayed in the home. When it was better to do something else, they did something else. I notice that you don't see many women working high steel, or wading through sewer pipes, or doing construction. Gee, I wonder why?
