Friendlys in Texas????

by YplayAwhenucanplayB » Thu Feb 28, 2008 1:25 pm

Why aren't there many Friendly’s in Texas??? Cali seems to do them all the time. College Exposures are usually structured that way too. Teams can't play unless there is a prize at the end? I'd rather play 5-6 good teams on a weekend, 5-6 inning games, and then go home. Teams that play 8-10 games on a weekend....that's crazy. You probably get in 3-4 innings a game playing half of those against weak to average teams.....does that really help your kids get better? Just a thought!!! You hardly ever see Houston, Dallas, Central Texas and other areas playing each other unless it an ASA qualifier and/or National Tournament. Are teams to scared to show their hand before State, HOF, and/or Nationals? Wouldn't playing each other early and often help TEXAS rep better in ASA Nationals like the Cali teams do?

I have been in favor of this for many many years!

Save the entery fees - line up Great teams - play 3 or 4 games top - all in one day....

It is a no brainer IMO!
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

I had that same question. I have noticed more one day, round robins in McKinney and we are scrimmaging each other on the weekends. I wish we had more of these year round.

Last weekend was really cool. Mesquite decided to host a friendly or scrimmage or whatever to train their new umpires. The parents were great, the umpires were fun, and everyone was forgiving of bad calls (very few!).

And one reason is that we do like to see our pretty ribbons under our teams profile on VTD, whether they admit it or not. And you have to agree, the tournaments with a bunch of teams in it are fun. There's nothing like playing Friday at 7 until Sunday at 7.

Hmmmm... what a great question... I know why there isn't any in the Ft. Worth Metro area and it's the Metro JO ( Glen Gotcher ). He will not approve any friendlies in his Metro area. Since he will not approve or sanction them... the UIC will not let any umpires call the games due to ASA legalities of some sort. Mr. Gotcher says if any friendly is not sanctioned ASA... Bollinger Insurance will not cover any injuries making a possible legal issue for any umpire if someone should get hurt?? I am only paraphrasing here so if I may have a small inaccuracy somewhere in all of this I apologize. We have asked Mr. Gotcher why Bollinger will cover a team practice but not a friendly game and we never got a clear answer. Many teams in the Dallas/FT. Worth area have long tried to get these "friendlies" together... but when we have higher ranking "ASA" individuals running interference it becomes a losing proposition!!! We are seeing more round robins this spring and hopefully that is a start but if you notice none of them are in the Ft. Worth Metro!!! Rest assured we would love to play more competition but in many ways our hands are tied. Just wait until the HOF Qualifier... I hope everyone is ready if you have any inaccuracies in your paperwork you may be going home early!!!! Mr. Gotcher is a stickler!!!

The Houston area Gold teams do play in round robins to help get them ready for Gold Nationals.

Here goes matt tuggey crying and whining about glen gotcher again. hey pal, why dont you try something different..dont be a horses a** to him and you might get a decent conversation with him. try the road less traveled by yourself..its at least worth a try instead of bashing him here and on the vtd under various names.

Tugaol it looks like Mrs Gotcher (Lori ) is mad at you again. If you are the tournament director in Southlake good job out there. When we came up last year we loved your place and the facilities.

Here is the trouble with parents like Lori.. They can hide behind other parents and complain about everything but does nothing. ASA JO, TD, Coaches have their name and on the line ever time they get in front of thier DD and parents. That leads me into another subject coaches.

Coaches answer to ASA JO, TD and Parents usually getting a thankless job coaching someone like Lori DD. Coaches have my total respect for everything they have to do and the put up with a critic like Lori. I think that like top baseball teams they should be paid for their hard work. I know some organizations have begun doing this for their coaches and hats off to them.

Tugaol their has to be some fashion if someone is in the ASA and is not looking out for the good of the sport to get him replaced. I only had 1 dealing with this guy and he is a real piece of work. If a coach or TD is not doing his job he would lose his team or get replaced, or the BOD would replace the TD. If there is a will there is a way.

IN MY OPINION....

Thank you fastpitch360 for reaffirming to me that there are true mindliss twits still out there. You are basing 1 attempt to work with gotcher as your whole basis for his character..wow, good thing you are not revealing your real name or everyone would know what kind of person you really are, and if you are in a position of power anywhere(which I highly doubt based on your quicknes to judge someone's character) you would be hurtin fella!!

What you obviosly don't know about the situation is that matt tuggey has long hated gotcher for not showing him favoritism and any team he is (was) with. Tuggey is a politics player(in a lot of peoples opinion) and gets highly upset when he is not included in the game. Rather than sit down like mature adults to work problems out, he gets on the vtd and slams and bashes gotcher under assumed names, and tries to make him look like the antichrist.

I bet if either of you "gentlemen" (and I use that term loosly) would try to sit down with gotcher...when he is not in the middle of registering 2000 kids in fort worth, or investigating and approving hundreds of coaches in fort worth, or assigning 300 tournaments a year between 12 local associations in fort worth, or getting fort worth ready for hall of fame qualifiers, or getting fort worth ready for nationals, or getting fort worth ready to host the olympic team eveyr 4 yrs, or making sure 200 travel teams are getting reclassified each year to the appropriate level, or coaches are not cheating by picking up ineligible players.....then you might see how much he actually does for FW ASA..without crying, pointing fingers, or blaming someone else for his shortcomings like tuggey does(in a lot of peoples opinion).

No gotcher doesn't get everything right, but I guarantee you tuggey could do no better (in a lot of peoples opinion), so he chooses to cry about everything. It would take GOD himself to get everything right, and that just an't gonna happen!!

Look inside youreselves fastpitch360 and tugal..are you perfect..I can confidently say NO!! And if you have any self dignity, you wouldn't pass yourselves off as perfect either.

Just one gal's opinion!

PS..I have the breasts to prove I am not gotcher..and no you cannot see!! lol

By the way, yes i agree, tuggey does run an excellent tournament out in southlake!!

Beautiful facility, only wish they would put temp fences up on top fields during faspitch tourney, but hey a little extra running never hurt the girls!! lol

Good job...AS A TD... tuggey

First off, I would like everyone to look at all Lori’s posts and mostly all I see is jealousy and hate.
Tugaol brought up some very legit questions or concerns about friendlies. Our JO encourages them and if FW is not allowed to do them I would consider that a problem for FW and ASA.
Lori also brought up why do we hide behind screen names, so being Lori is so anxious to divulge her identity I think we would all like to know her name and phone number to discuss the issues. (I know Spaz wants it bad)
Also you mentioned a lot of people and what they think of Tuggy once again didn’t you mention faceless idiots with not enough courage. I’m sure Tuggy has a phone why don’t you give him a call??
Here is my solution to the FW ASA problem, you need to get Mrs. Gotcher (Lori) to get off this forum and start helping your man with all his endless work (which I’m sure are JO has but he is still nice and friendly and very helpful) or tell him to retire and let someone which has more vigor for the great coaches and the sport to take over.
When everyone is researching Lori’s posts check out how many times she has guessed a screen name being Tuggy. I would say at the very least Tuggy has made Lori mad, I guess she was served some cold ice cream at Southlake.
