Bombers Tourney........how long are the games?

by SoftballG » Tue Mar 17, 2009 12:19 pm

thats ridiculous 50 minute pool game on Friday... it takes some "local" teams that much time just get over there, way to overbook and short change those teams on Friday especially since these games seed you into bracket :smh:

You're right....a rule sheet would be nice. I have been to a couple of tournaments where the rules changed at the very end but coaches didn't have proof of what the tournament director told them in the coaches meeting. Also, sometimes Umpires are not always clear on the rules. We've had to call time and wait for tournament director to clear up rule issues. In a tournament this big, It can delay games and become very frustrating.

I called our coach who spoke with a Bomber Coach. All pool games are 1:15 finish the inning. Seeding will be #1's play #4's and #2's play #3's.

We played at camp comal a few weeks ago. 3 fields were nice one was ok. All had grass in the out field and the infields were good. Very similar to fields we played on at the Ronald McDonald. Not the greatest but very playable. Never lost a foul ball to the River. We were able to BBQ and bring our own coolers. Plenty of room for RV's.

And Lastly....in regards to the number of Teams in this tournament! We are very thankful for the participation and appreciate the attendance! We started a couple of years ago donating money to the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life" We donate $25 from every teams entry fee along with $100 per player from all of the players in our program! Last year we donated right at $12,000 to the Comal County "Relay for Life" This year should be closer to $14,000.....so yes we seek out as many teams as possible to participate and appreciate all of the teams that chose to attend! Along the way we hope that the teams get a chance to play some great teams from all over the state and abroad....and you have my word that we will go out of our way to help make your attendance here as good as possible!

Take Care and have a great Tournament!

Well....here you go for those inquiring minds!

The Friday night games are 1:15 just like all other pool games! It is a typo on the schedule and is being corrected (Sorry for the mistake)

All pool games are finish the inning and will either end in a Win , Loss or Tie (You will receive points accordingly 2 points for a win , 0 Points for a loss and 1 point for a tie) Tie will be broken by Head to Head first , then Total runs allowed!

You will then be seeded into the single elimination bracket as either a 1,2,3,4 or 5 seed!

Coaches that are in this tournament will be emailed with more details tonight

All other rules are based on ASA code!

Take Care - Scott

And that in itself is an interesting statement. Why do the parents need a copy of the rules?

Agree, I dont think I have ever given my parents the rules list. I try to give them a bracket so they know game times, of course, the bracket sheet usually changes anyway.

Why is everything always a conspiracy??? We are a young 10U team with lots of parents that don't know how these tournaments are run...just like to be informed...that's all. It's nice to know the rules.

I didn't know it was a big secret. ;)
