Summit City Thunder pitcher threw a heck of a championship game against us 2 weeks ago at the Dome in Ft. Wayne. We prevailed 2-1 in 8 innings. Our pitcher had 16 K's and theirs had 15....maybe it was the lighting but our girls just had a hard time picking her up.

glad to be back CC14. Hope you and the fam are well. On the surface not the strongest field I've ever witnessed , but because they are not big names doesn't mean they can't play the game. We get the canadian team that did'nt fare that well at spano dome last month but was competetive losing 2 close games i believe. Indy excel is in our pool also. Saw so many Indy teams last year I can't keep them all straight. Just remember the diamond chix (Big B beat our old team in the quarters but our current team beat them in the semi's of the NSA WS in col. ) were really good along with the thunder and dreamz. Don't recall the excel.

Manitou Dan---we faced the Excel in a fall tourney. Assuming they have the same girls now---they were a pretty fundamentally sound bunch. No OMG pitchers or hitters but well coached and didn't beat themselves. We haven't seen nearly all the teams around yet but I'm assuming the Dreams "95" and Chix 14U will probably be about as good as it get's at the 14U level around the Indy area. Both are very impressive, particularly for being made up of first year 14's. With the move of the Dreams "94" to 16U a year early, the 14U in Indiana is kind of tough to figure out. Should be a very competitive and unpredictable summer!

Ohio may be hard to judge below the top 2 also. Slammers and Lasers Red are above the pack IMO with the Slammers being in their own league according to most folks (I have not seen them) after that there are 3 really strong 1st year 14u teams --doom95' Lasers Silver and our team ,the Stingrays. IMO we were the top dawgs last year but we lost 2 starters to the doom team (middle infielders) so who knows how those 3 teams will compete in the 14u field. Hopefully all 3 of us are able to be top 10ish type at 14u. MD PS The lasers silver 13u ace throws at 60 or above on most pitches (no not all) and the doom's # 1 may not be behind her in speed at all.

MD---my DD's team faced the Slammer's once at Orland Park and twice at Compuware two year's ago and last year we travelled out to play them an exhibition game in Akron on the Wednesday before Compuware. That was really a neat experience for the girls---played at Firestone Stadium before the Racers game and stuck around afterwards for autograph's and fireworks. They are the real deal!!! and with the addition of three more standout players, they should do well in the Nationals. From what I've read on the Ohio boards Bill seems to be a polarizing figure out there but he's been great to us for the last couple of years, so I wish them nothing but the best.

Are the Stingray's coming to Indiana for any outdoor's tourney's this year?---the first round would be on me if we're ever in the same tournament.

Scooby -no ind tournies in the future for the rays at least at the 14u level. But we need to remember our friends to the west, lots of good teams over there. The depth at this particular age group is impressive.

Asa far as Bill goes he certainly keeps folks on their toes over here , ad yes, He has been very kind to me also. Hopefully we will get to see where we measure up against them this summer. MD

just got home from FW, Lost on sat to the Ind Excel. For some reason we threw our # 3 pitche . In an hour time limit getting behind early is not a good idea , they spanked us. Lost today to the Summit City Team. Their ace throws well, 56-57 I'd guess , our girls just could'nt time her up . Tying run thrown out at home on a double play ball . Lost 3-2. We had 12 at bat's for the game ---total. MD
