Bombers Tourney........how long are the games?

by YplayAwhenucanplayB » Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:03 pm

Looking at the schedule for Friday......teams play at 7, 8, and 9 (one hour between starts), then on saturday games start at 8, then 9:30, 11....etc (hour and half between starts)?

Hasanyone seen a posting on the length of the games? How about bracket?

unfortunately that's pretty standard here, especially with a field of this number of teams. Yes, typically you get through the lineup but rarely two full times through it against a good defensive team. It sucks.
My daughter is perfect, she knows everything. Just ask her.

I'm not use to this format of play for a tournament. Can someone explain how this tournament is going to run? Pool games? Bracket games? Is it double elimination?

Thanks,
Julia

really sucks when there are too many teams and not enough field space, this is the 9th Annual!! you would think they would have gotten this down by now...

we are lucky to get 75 min bracket games around here, we will never see 1:20 pool games unless it is a round robin which almost never happens, they still don't get it around here!!

oh yeah, WTH is a friendly?? most don't know what that is either :x

How do you get seeded? Is it the worst record with the best record?

Julia- Thats how it usually runs but you never know with this tournament, perhaps bomberscoach could chime in with some info or maybe post it on their website for crying out loud ;)

50 minute pool games on Friday night and 75 minute pool games on Saturday. According to the schedule that is what it looks like.
Also, if you play in NB on Friday night, get ready to play on some of the worse fields you have ever seen (with the exception of the bomber field). No grass in the outfields and sand in the infield that is at least ankle deep in some areas. Also, do use your good game balls on the fields closest to the river. Teams could go through at least a half dozen game balls on those fields from foul balls.
I realize that year after year some of the best teams from across the state come in to play in this tournament, but I really don't understand why! Huber fields are nice, Camp Comal fields are horrible, tournament organization is questionable, and as always umpires in this area do not have the best reputations either.

Are they doing finish the inning or the batter? A rule sheet would be nice.
