Congrats and I hope she enjoys playing for Frank at St. Joe.

Great school and a great guy for a coach.

Congrats to all the girls. Is the Indiana Blaze the same as the Blaze out of Anderson? Only asking because I had heard the Anderson Blaze(18u) had folded. IU softball should start looking more into home grown talent given the start they have had this year. Quick question, given the number of Pendleton Heights girls going to ISU, is this a relationship that has developed with the high school coach and ISU softball? If so, does anyone believe other high school coaches can become or are significant in the recruiting process?

I believe the Anderson Blaze and Indiana Blaze are the same team and yes they have folded. They played 18u and have decided their run is over. From what I hear Lauren will be playing this summer for the Storm out of Anderson. Not sure if they are called Anderson Storm or Indiana Storm.

I believe Scott Hall is significant in the recruiting process due to his knowledge of the game and also he takes the time to attend clinics and network in the same manner that travel coaches do.
I have personally heard Scott talking to college coaches at clinics about not only the talents of his own players, but also other quality players from different schools as well.

The only other high school coaches that may play a role are the ones that have built the same kind of network thru clinics, coaching travel, etc...that will prompt a call from a college coach that may be searching for a need and I can only think of maybe 3 or 4 in the Indy and surrounding area that would be in the same boat. I know thru my dd's recruiting process none of the coaches that were recruiting her called her high school coach although many called her travel coach, her hitting coach and her pitching coach.

Scott is a great coach and a great guy as well. My DD does not play for Pendleton but he has allowed her to attend a few of his camps and treated her very well. You would never know that she attended a different school the way he took time to work with her just like he did the Pendleton girls. Pendleton is very lucky to have him as a coach and teacher.

Ballguy, thanks for the info on the Blaze...a friend of my daughter's who plays on our high school team had played with the Anderson Blaze for a number of years. This fall she started playing for a different travel team. Thru the vine I had heard the Blaze had folded. They always seemed to field a competitive team, had some very fine players and the coaches seemed pretty good.

Bucketboy, I agree with you on all counts. The girls going to ISU from Pendleton peaked my curiousity as to how much value a college coach would place on the opinion of a high school coach(not coach xyz holding scorebook at 3rd) regarding players.
